  • Abilene State Park

    May 14, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 77 °F

Arrived a couple of hours ago, set up and then wandered the trails. Lots of birds, lizards, wild flowers, and interesting smells per Beau's opinion
A huge pool was built by the CCC but under renovation. Really nice park and got some good practice backing into the site. Now for a glass of wine and some slow internet.

Went to bed last night with fireflies outside and lots of stars. Turned out my lights and was lucky to see the white spots on Beau.

So swimming area is open. Lake is a bit sulphury so should be healing. Surprisingly clear. Check it out. Beau has his own patch of grass

    May 20, 2023 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

Interesting day. Last night Beau seemed to be very ill, He was hardly able to get in the trailer and barely could walk. He was refusing to eat and seemed to be hard to wake up. I spent most of the night trying to make sure he was still breathing. So left at 6am this morning to head to Kim and Nathans. Kim made an appointment with her vet and we dropped the trailer off in front of the house and went straight over. After several hours of checking him out and blood work we are pretty sure it is a bad infection. They started him on antibiotics and several hours later he is much better and has eaten more than he has in the past 3 days.

Nathan and Kim moved the trailer for me so thought that was great. It did startle me not to see the trailer where I left it but did appreciate their work.
There will be lots of kids photos coming. Dylan and Elliott have already helped set up the trailer and then visit. I am exhausted so we are putting off sleepovers for a day or so.

  • Sad day

    May 31, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

Beau has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
Brought him home and will enjoy what time we get. Very rough emotionally. But he is not suffering. He is barely eating but still closeby and follows me. Likes to ride in van and a bit scared of a very noisy Alja. She likes to yell at her food
Nathan and a friend built a dog run this evening. It looks great , runs from side of house to the fence at back corner of house.

  • Merced, CA

    June 3, 2023 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

today was Gallo's family picnic, the Jarrett's all went and I was able to stay at the house and catch up on somethings

Beau is eating better and seems to be more active. Not sure what to think about that but I am working with him to find the food that will do the best. He is not cured but I have a feeling the medicine was not really helping. So a slightly slower dog and having to make a better dog food will be a challenge but so far worth the effort.

Tomorrow Kim and Nathan are rescuing a dog that has been locked in a yard with minimal attention and no vet care. It is a German Shepard mix and I know Sky will love having a play mate. Beau is just not able to keep up. I will add photos when I can .

A friend of Kim's who is a mechanic came over and tried to diagnose the noise in my van engine. The van has an appointment at the shop he works at next week. I now have a trusted mechanic in Merced.

Most of the weeds in the backyard are under control.

    The weather is great.

We discovered that Milo chases lights just like Beau. Makes Alja just laughs.

So I know several of you are concerned about my knee rehab. Today was up and down from sitting on a step stool and pulling weeds out of bricks. Then a bit later it was going up and down the stairs to vacuum upstairs. Plus standing up holding a weight, Alja is 14 lbs. And constant wiggles.

I am doing well. Plus getting in and out of the trailer. Feel great, finally able to breath, not sure if it was allergies or something else.

Beau is also doing well and eating two good meals a day.

  • The day from you know where

    June 17, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

Some days should be remembered just to keep us humble. Yesterday was one. Kim and Naomi went to pick up ordered supplies from Lowe's. They could not get help loading and left to pick up later. Alja was very cranky. I offered to make dinner. After dinner Kim and Nathan went to Lowes. Now they wouldn't give them the materials with out the paper receipt from earlier, I was at home with kids, Alja now had a fever, dogs from next door knocked out a part of fence, was able to get Milo, new dog into house and crate, Beau inside and then neighbor dog came over . Crying baby, scared kids and past bedtime.
End of story: materials picked up, Kim and Nathan home, fence fixed, baby given medicine, boys in bed, and grandma in trailer.

    Today will hopefully be better.
