Red Cross let me do a training in Conroe and the I have on Saturday in Newton, Tx and one Sunday in Jasper, Tx. So I decided to spend up in Martin Dies. Today's training went really well and arrived at park at 3pm . Got in a couple hours of paddling. Almost a perfect paddle but didn't see any gators. Woke up to a foggy morning but stable to get a walk in the woods. Lake was a bit eerie.by noon it was warm and off on an hour paddle. Did not see another boat the whole time. So quiet and relax.

Last day in Martin Dies

Sunday I was only able to do a hike in the woods. I helped with a class for Red Cross for 34 potential new volunteers. It was from 3pm to 6 so missed prime kayak oning time.
Today I got in the walk and the kayaking and some reading ing the sun. Heading to Fredericksburg tomorrow

It is fun to visit the cypress knee groups.Read more

Longhorn Cellars Winery

Made it to Fredericksburg, staying at a Harvest host which means parking in their lot and enjoying their wines.
They even have a very friendly donkey and several longhorns

Messina Hof Hill country

Started the day slowly at Longhorn Cellars. Beautiful morning and even was able to use the solar to charge up the battery. At 11 am picked up my wines at Safari winery, then over to Altstadt Brewery for lunch. Of course a beer also. Next went to Grape Creek winery, Airisele winery and Messina Hof. I spent the night in their back lot. Forgot to mention the Chocolate Tasting It was awesome Loved their dark chocolate.Read more

Oakwood RV

Had to kill some time this morning before could park trailer at Oakwood. So went wine tasting.Inventive winery, then set up trailer and had lunch. Next was Arch Ray Winery and Heritage Winery.

Another beautiful day. Wine tasting was fun and even got some laughs. Thought about the "bottle opener" on display but decided that would be a bit messy.
The least splashy of the wineries was Meierstone. But those four reds were awesome. Some day ask me in person about the wines with a story by the winemaker, Krystal.Read more

Brian and Michelle joined me for lunch at Altstadt Brewery and the we drove into town. Did a sparkling wine tasting at Heath wines, some shopping.
I had the surprise of literally bumping into one of the former Girl Scout moms, Sandy Spiller. Waiting in line for the restroom can be quiet enjoyable.

Last trip of the year

I am on my way to Indio CA to meet Kim and family. We have rented a house with a heated pool. Plus close to Joshua Tree national park. Hope to do some exploring.
Today I met Brian in San Antonio for lunch and to swap some gifts. Then drove on to Fort Stockton. A bit drizzly.

Made it to Phoenix safely. Desert people do not know how to drive in the rain!!! Last 200miles were stop and go. Hopefully it will all pass thru tonight
