    Buenos Aires

    Ich habe mich inzwischen gut in Buenos Aires eingelebt. Die Stadt hat so viele verschiedene Gesichter und jeden Tag entdecke ich Neues. Es ist eine spannende Mischung aus Europa und Südamerika. Auf jeden Fall sind die Leute wahnsinnig nett und hilfsbereit. Ich freue mich auf die kommenden Wochen :-)

    I have settled in well in Buenos Aires. The city has so many different faces and I'm discovering new ones every day. It's an interesting mixture of Europe and Latin America. People are so friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to the weeks to come:-)    En savoir plus

    Salta

    Seit Donnerstag bin ich im Nordwesten Argentiniens. Der Flug nach Salta war schon ein Erlebnis. Die Fluggesellschaft Aerlineas Argentinos hatte am Morgen gestreikt und alle Flüge bis 10 Uhr gestrichen. Zum Glück war ich auf den 13 Uhr Flug gebucht. Allerdings war der Flughafen vollgestopft mit Menschen und es herrschte Chaos. Ich habe es dank sehr hilfsbereiten Argentiniern dann doch geschafft und kam mit nur einer Stunde Verspätung in Salta an.
    Die Stadt liegt am Rande der Anden auf 1200 Meter und fühlt sich um einiges mehr Südamerikanisch an als Buenos Aires.

    Since Thursday I'm in the northwest of Argentina. The flight to Salta was already a little adventure. Aerolineas Argentinas was on strike and they had cancelled all the morning flights. Fortunately I was booked on the lunchtime flight. Nevertheless was the airport full of people and it was pure chaos. Thanks to some very helpful locals I caught my flight and arrived with only one hour delay in Salta.
    The city is at the foothills of the Andes mountains on 1200 meters. It feels a lot more Latin American than Buenos Aires.    En savoir plus

    Cafayate

    Heute ging meine Reise weiter durch die Calchaquitäler nach Cafayate. Erst über den Cuesta del Obispo Pass über fast 3500 Meter, durch den Cardones Nationalpark mit den Kakteen und durch die Flechas Schlucht. Cafayate ist ein Weinanbaugebiet inmitten trockener Berge, eine Oase.

    Today my trip continued through the Calchaqui valleys to Cafayate. First I crossed the Cuesta del Obispo pass on almost 3500 meters, then trough the Cardones National Park and the Flechas gorge. Cafayate is surrounded by wineries in a dry mountain area.    En savoir plus

    Valle Calchaqui

    Salinas Grandes

    Wilde Guanakos und Vicuñas auf dem Weg zu den Salinas Grandes. Der Salzsee ist in Mitten der Wüste und ca. 240 km2 gross. Momentan sieht er sehr schmutzig aus weil es im argentinischen Winter kaum regnet.

    Paso de Jama

    Nach einer langen Busfahrt, die durch einen Streik der chilenischen Zöllner noch länger wurde, bin ich in der Atacamawüste angekommen. Die Fahrt war landschaftlich sehr schön und abwechslungsreich durch die Puna der Anden auf ca. 3000 bis 4000 m.

    After a long busride that was even extended due to strike of the chilenean customs, I arrived in the desert of Atacama. The ride was going through the beautiful and always changing puns of the Andes always on 3000 to 4000 m.    En savoir plus

    San Pedro de Atacama

    San Pedro de Atacama, Ausgangspunkt für Exkursionen in die Atacamawüste. Es kommt mir vor, als hätte es mehr Touristen als Einheimische. Der Vulkan Licancabur ist im Osten des Städtchens auf der Grenze zu Bolivien und fast 6000 m hoch.

    El Tatio

    Um 4.30 ging es los um die Geysire in Tatio aktiv zu erleben. Diese liegen auf 4280 m und so früh morgens ist es sehr kalt. Aber es hat sich gelohnt und ein Fussbad im heiss-warmen Wasser hat mich wieder aufgewärmt. Auf der Weiterfahrt gab es jede Menge Tiere zu sehen: Vicuñas, Lamas, Vizcachas - eine Mischung zwischen Hase und Chinchilla, Enten und tatsächlich Flamingos. Ich war echt erstaunt, über so viel Leben in dieser kargen Natur.

    It was an early start at 4.30 to see the geysersin El Tatio active. They are located on 4280 m and it was freezing that early in the morning. It was worth it and I could war up bathing my feet in the hot water. On the way back we saw a lot of animals: Vicuñas, Lamas, Vizcachas - a mix between rabbit and chinchilla, ducks and yes Flamingos. I was really surprised that there is so much life in this scarce nature.    En savoir plus

    Puerto Madryn

    Ich bin etwa 2600 km Richtung Süden gereist nach Puerto Madryn an der Atlantikküste. Hier erwartet mich die argentinische Tierwelt der Gegend. Ausserdem habe ich bei meinem Stadtspaziergang eine Zurich Filiale gefunden ;-)

    I have travelled 2600 km south to Puerto Madryn on the Atlantic coast. Here the wildlife of the region is waiting to be discovered. During my stroll around the city I found a Zurich office ;-)    En savoir plus

    Punta Tombo

    Gestern war ich in Punta Tombo, der grössten Brutstätte von Magellan-Pinguinen. Im Moment sind die Tiere gerade am Ausbrüten der Eier. Das wird abwechslungsweise von Männchen und Weibchen gemacht. Die Pinguinpaare bleiben sich ein Leben lang treu und kommen jedes Jahe zum gleichen Nest zurück. Sie sind unglaublich süss und haben überhaupt keine Angst vor Menschen.

    Yesterday I was in Punta Tombo, the largest nesting colony of the Magellanic penguins. At the moment the animals are breeding their eggs. That is done in turns from both males and females. The couples stay together all their life and return every year to the same nest. They are very cute and not shy towards people at all.    En savoir plus

    Whale watching Puerto Piramides

    Die Südkaper Wale kommen jedes Jahr in den Golf der Peninsula Valdes um sich zu paaren und zu gebären. Sie bleiben einige Monate bis der Nachwuchs bereit ist für die Reise Richtung Südpol, wo sie leben und sich von Krill ernähren. Auf den Bildern sieht man Mütter mit ihren Babys plantschen. Eins davon ist ein seltenes weisses/graues Baby. Die Mütter werden bis 15m lang.

    The southern right whales come to the gulfs of Peninsula Valdes every year to reproduce and give birth. They stay some months until the calfs are ready for the journy towards South Pole Ehre they live and feed from krill. On the pictures you can see the mothers and babies splashing. One of the babies is a rather seldom white/grey one. The females get up to 15m long.    En savoir plus

    Peninsula Valdes

    Die Peninsula Valdes ist ein Naturreservat mit karger Landschaft und ein paar Salzseen. Vor allem wegen der Meeressäuger ist sie ein beliebtes Auflugsziel. Ausser den Walen habe ich noch Seelöwen, Guanakos, Maras oder Pampashasen und See-Elefanten gesehen.

    The Peninsula Valdes is a nature reserve with barren land and some salt lakes. Especially because of the marine animals it's a popular place to visit. Besides the whales I have seen sea lions, guanacos, maras, and elephant seals.    En savoir plus

    Tigre

    Tigre ist nur eine Stunde von Buenos Aires entfernt in Flussdelta. Es gibt ganz viele schöne Wochenendhäuser und alte Villen aber auch Einheimische, die immer dort leben. Die einzige Möglichkeit zur Fortbewegung ist das Boot. Ich habe mich für eine 4 stüdige Fahrt mit dem lokalen Boot entschieden. Es ist aber nicht nur Boot sondern wird auch zur Lieferung von Post, Wasser und anderer Waren gebraucht. Auf dem Weg sind Einheimische, Schüler und Touristen ein- und ausgestiegen. Wir sind das Delta hoch bis zum grossen Fluss Parana gefahren.

    Tigre is just an hour away from Buenos Aires in the river delta. There are very nice weekend houses and old villas but there are also people living permanently in the delta. The only way to get around there is by boat. I decided to go on a 4 hour trip with the local boat. It's not just a boat but also delivers mail, water and other supplies. One thy way there were locals, tourists and students getting on and off. I was going up the delta to the big river Parana.    En savoir plus

    Polo Day in Capilla del Senor

    Am Wochenende war ich auf einer Poloranch außerhalb Buenos Aires. Erst gab es etwas Theorie und dann könnten wir ein Polospiel anschauen. Nach dem Spiel gab es BBQ bevor wir selber auf die Pferde stiegen. Wie immer sieht das Ganze einfacher aus als es ist. Aber es hat Spaß gemacht :-)

    On the weekend I went to a Poloranch outside of Buenos Aires. First we got introduced to some theory about the sport and we watched a full game. After the game they prepared a BBQ before we could mount the horses ourselves. As always it looks much easier than it is. But it was great fun!    En savoir plus

    Bariloche

    In der Zwischenzeit bin ich mit einer internationalen Gruppe von 16 Personen unterwegs. Die Tour dauert 3 Wochen und wir sind in Patagonien am Reisen. Die erste Station ist Bariloche. Der Ort ist im Winter Ausgangspunkt zum Skifahren und im Sommer zum Wandern. Die Einheimischen finden das Städtchen sieht aus wie in Europa, mich erinnert es eher an Kanada und die Skiorte in den USA. Die Temperaturen ein im Vergleich zu Buenos Aires eher kühl, aber ich bin ja auch sehr weit im Süden.

    In the meantime I'm on a 3 weeks tour with an international group of 16 persons. We are traveling in Patagonia. The first station is Bariloche. The little town is in winter starting point for skiing and in summer for hiking. The locals thinks the town looks like somewhere in Europe, but it reminds me rather of the ski resorts in Canada or the US. The temperatures are compared to Buenos Aires on the cool side, but I'm very far south.    En savoir plus

    Puerto Varas

    Wieder mal stand ein Grenzübertritt auf dem Programm. Wie schon bei meiner ersten Einreise nach Chile streikten die chilenischen Grenzzöllner wieder. Stau im Niemandsland zwischen Argentinien und Chile und dann warten bis die Hunde alles abgeschnüffelt hatten. Puerto Varas liegt in der Region de los Lagos mit Aussicht auf die Vulkane Osorno und Calbuco.

    Another border crossing was coming up. Like the first time the chilenean customs was on strike. That meant traffic jam in the noman's land inbetween Argentina and Chile and then waiting until the dogs had checked all the luggage on plants, meat, fruit and vegetables. Puerto Varas is located in the region de los Lagos with a view to the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes.    En savoir plus

    Punta Arenas

    Die Reise ging weiter Richtung Süden mit dem Flugzeug über das nördliche Eisfeld nach Punta Arenas. Die Stadt liegt an der Magellanstrasse und das Klimas sehr frisch. Demzufolge steht Funktionalität über Schönheit.

    The journey continued by plane over the northern icefield to Punta Arenas. The town is located on the Magellan Straight and the climate rather fresh. Therefore it was more functional than beautiful.    En savoir plus
