Iringa

The main road to Dar es Salaam is under construction for >100 km which meant the driving conditions sucked. When we weren’t driving on a dirt side-road, we were driving on beautiful new tarmac but made to travel at 30km/hour because it was a construction zone. Surprisingly, we managed to avoid any tickets.
Eventually, we arrived in Iringa, a cute, bustling town with a park at the center. We stayed at Neema, a lovely guesthouse run by deaf and disabled Tanzanians. The café served the best food we’ve had on this trip and the rooms were clean, comfortable and the staff were great. We’d arrived before dark so had time to wander around the town, market and park before dinner. Unfortunately we'd lost a day to repairs so couldn't linger.Read more
