• Fairhavens and Matala

    October 4 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We loosed from Heraklion and bused due south across the island to a port called Fairhavens, near the ancient city of Lasea, which is close to the modern town of Kaloi Limniones.

The first sign that this wasn’t a regular tourist spot was our guide, who told us she hadn’t been there in 15 years. The road over the hills was the second clue. We understood why. However, upon arriving at the small town, we immediately saw the attraction of this place as a natural harbour.

We walked up the hill to a quaint Greek chapel and an ancient cave that was constantly considered the place Paul stayed. We read Acts 27 with greater appreciation and then reluctantly took our leave to the second half of our day.

Matala is a gorgeous tourist town on a lovely bay on the south coast. Here, we enjoyed lunch and swam in the mild Mediterranean Sea.

After the dinner all of us will share together we had a memorial meeting after which we shared our reflections. A wonderful way to finish an extraordinary experience.
