    Friday Night Airport Dash

    April 12, 2024 in England ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Who knew, it’s cheaper to have a weekend adventure in Ireland as it is London… that’s what we costed up anyway!
My amazing adventure buddy Gill and I boarded the plane at tea time after work, and were sipping Guinness at Temple Bar by 10pm! That’s before we were enlightened to the controversial tourist trap… we learned more about the “real” Irish music scene as the weekend went on… didn’t sleep too late as up bright and early for Park Run!Read more

  • A Day in Dublin

    April 13, 2024 in Ireland ⋅ 🌬 13 °C

Fabulous day! We sure did pack a lot in!
Headed up to fair view park for park run - picked up a coffee and croissant across the road first. Great atmosphere and pootle around.
We moseyed back to our Travelodge plus then to freshen up, well intended to, but brunch was calling en route, so stopped for some fabulous food!

The afternoon consisted of many steps - finding Molly Malone, exploring trinity college, hot chocolates at Butlers and what I think was a real highlight of the trip - Nail’s Real Irish Music Pubcrawl. We had Guinness in 3 fabulous bars - Pipers Corner, The Cobblestone and McNeills, learning about the songs and traditions as we went.

  • Another Sunny Day Exploring Dublin

    April 14, 2024 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

We made the most of our last day for sure! Starting at the EPIC Irish Emigration Museum which was fabulous! My biggest takeaway… everyone is probably a little bit Irish!
We then hopped aboard the Jeanie Johnston, an amazing story emerged from a really dark time in Irelands history. I really liked the positive stories of new beginnings here, unlike the other typical Famine boats.

In the afternoon we enjoyed the Guinness Storehouse, learning about everything Guinness and of course sampling some. The views from the bar were fabulous!

We struggled to find somewhere to eat and the heavens opened (typical unpredictable Irish weather). Settled for some soup and nibbles on a corner (not the fish and chips we had in mind, but yummy nonetheless). Then headed to the airport.

What a fabulous weekend adventure! Guinness just isn’t quite the same out of Ireland…
