I went a 2 days early because I wanted to visit Versailles so after taking Play airlines thru Reykjavik, I landed at DeGaulle Airport. Next I had to figure out the train system to get to Versailles—a bit complicated but not horrible. But before I visit the magnificent Palace and gardens I indulged in checking out the other well known product of France: Food. This post is all about food shops in Versailles. I think I enjoyed the ceilings the most—beautifully detailed and more interesting than the many portraits. And gorgeous sculpture.

Where do I start—it’s over the top in opulence, history, and compelling yet sad stories. The Chateau was stunning in its details with sumptuous fabrics and paintings of every king, queen, child, close friend and of course, Napoleon.Read more

Too early in May be be in full flower, but the gardens included many walks with fountains and music playing to create intimate spaces for the royalty to entertain in. And crows to watch us eating in case we drop a crumb.Read more
