    Airport departures

    The time has come, we’ve been waiting for this trip to come up for months now! After a chaotic train trip with all our luggage, we checked in and got through security all in about 10 minutes. No queues, no people … unusually quiet.
    Flight has been delayed but no stress, we are excited to be waking up tomorrow morning in Japan!    Read more

    Yokohama - Shibuya

    After sleeping the whole night on the plane, we woke up this morning in Yokohama.
    We we’re greeted at the airport by our tour guide - Hahn, we jumped on our tour bus with the group and headed to our first stop, The Prince Hotel, where we dumped our suitcases and went out exploring for the day.
    We caught our very first bullet train to Tokyo City Station. Such a smooth ride, so fast too!
    We enjoyed an unusual lunch … we all weren’t too sure what to order so the food was .. different.
    We later on visited the famous Shibuya Crossing! Wow what an amazing spot. Definitely what I was looking forward to most! So many people, so many shops, so many lights! After enjoying a Sakè test tasting bar, we headed home for an early night.    Read more

    Yokohama – Hamamatsu

    First visited Great Buddha of Kamakura, the second tallest bronze Buddha in Japan with a height of 13.35m, it was surrounded by some beautiful and peaceful gardens.
    After traveling further West, we stopped at a tea plantation where we learnt how tea is locally produced.
    After arriving at our hotel this evening, we headed out to the local shops where we picked up some nikes for little Lenny and enjoyed a delicious dinner!    Read more

    Kyoto touring

    We started with an early morning 3 hour drive from Hamamatsu to Kyoto today! Upon arriving, we had a short visit to Toji Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Samurai and Ninja Museum and lastly a Bamboo Forest. Very full and busy day for us navigating the train system and learning the basic Japanese greetings.Read more

    Universal Studios Japan

    What a fantastic but exhausting day we had at Universal Studios today! Arrived at 6:30am and left at 9:30pm… you bet we fit every ride and roller coaster into our day!
    Jurassic Park, Nintendo World, Harry Potter World and thats just to name the first few.

    Very memorable day spent at USJ! One of my favourite days so far.    Read more

    Osaka - Nara

    Today was a quieter day as we traveled inland on the tour bus.
    Our first stop along the way was Osaka Castle Garden, a very beautiful, peaceful walkway covered in cherry blossom trees which lead to an ancient castle.
    Later on in the day, we had a short visit to the famous eat street in Shinsaibasi, very very busy, Amos ate some traditional octopus balls!
    Our last stop for the day before we arrived at our hotel was Nara deer park, this definitely wasn’t what I was expecting but still such a different experience to have in Japan!    Read more

    Gifu – Matsumoto

    Another quieter day spent traveling inland and north, so good to catch up on some sleep on the bus trip.
    Today we stopped at two small towns - Nagiso Town & Narai-juku Town.
    Both very ancient and boutiquie.
    We saw our very first bloomed cherry blossom trees! So beautiful and exactly what we came to see!    Read more

    Mount Fuji, Rainbow Bridge & Tokyo Tower

    Today we got up bright and early to travel to Mount Fuji! And wow it did not disappoint!
    Clear and perfect weather, spectacular ferry ride! We drove up to stage 5 (half way of the mountain) which was crazy windy up there but such a view to see!
    We trekked it back to Tokyo City in the evening where we will stay for the last two days of the trip.
    Upon arrival to Tokyo, we dumped our suitcases and headed out for the night. Walked across Rainbow Bridge, went up Tokyo Tower and again, back to Shibuya crossing where we saw the Hatchi statue!    Read more

    Yokohama - Shinjuku

    We started today with a shopping spree in Shibuya, Amos picked up some nice bits and pieces from the Pokémon store!
    Later in the afternoon we went to the Nissan Stadium where we watched a soccer game, Yokohama VS Kyoto! Such a great atmosphere however awful weather!
    Walking the short distance to and from the train station, our shoes and socks were squelching, our jeans and puffers were dripping! Hot showers and warm clothes were a must before Amos and I headed out for a date night!
    We explored Shinjuku for the night which consisted of going to a cat cafe, seeing a 3D billboard, playing games in an arcade, finding a private dining restaurant bar and climbing to a rooftop of a building! Great day and even greater memories!    Read more

    Hedgehog Cafe & Go-Karting

    Waking up on our final day in Tokyo was so sad this morning, we are all dreading getting on the plane! We spent our last day visiting a hedgehog cafe! So cool being able to hold these little guys up close and personal!
    We then headed to our final hoorah of the trip, Mario Go Karting around Shibuya!
    Such a memorable experience to have for our time in Japan, will definitely be back to do it again!
    Before heading to the airport, we went back to Shibuya crossing for one last time!
    We have now arrived at the airport, checked in and had our final meal before jumping on the plane to come home.    Read more

    Home stretch

    Our final home stretch was a bit rocky with heavy turbulence, however we made it home!
    Happy to be back in Sydney with comfortable foods to eat!
