    Kuza Cave / Salaam Cave

    First day in paradise! Beach walk and water front breakfast, sun beaming, fresh juice in hand, sandy feet… not too sure what more you could want for an early morning!
    We started the day with the hussle and bussle of Paje intersection, everywhere you look there is what seems like chaos going on but somehow it all works here. We got in contact with someone to get a SIM card put into our phone - after one man passed us to another man, then passed us to another man in another shop.. before we knew it we were loaded up with data, Google mapping our way down to Kuza Cave, our first tourist stop of the holiday.
    Beautiful natural spring water cave, perfect temp, super clear and blue! We swam here for a while before zooming off down to Salaam cave.
    Did someone say Turtle x10? Wowsers were we in the most clearest, cleanest water with about 20 or so turtles! Pictures still don’t do it justice! Top notch place for sure. Bike ride back to Paje a town close by to where we are staying for an early dinner and early night in.    En savoir plus

    Kendwa Beach

    Rode a scooter up to the north of the island to visit Kendwa beach today. The journey up being almost 2 hours provided lots of scenic views and opportunities to see the jungle, locals and the difference in landscapes.
    We spent the day walking up and down Kendwa beach. A good yap and a good walk always makes for a great day.
    We stopped for a late lunch before beginning the ride back down south. We stopped off at many different beaches along the east coast to enjoy the glowing blue water

    Blue Lagoon and Starfish Central

    16 juin, Tanzanie ⋅ 🌬 26 °C

    Our morning started with our usual breakfast spot, enjoying the water views with some fruit.. before long we were negotiating price with a sales guy to take us out snorkelling for the day.
    Up to blue lagoon we went, snorkelling with hundreds of colourful fish and coral! So many fish, they started to nibble on Amos leaving him a few bites down but we carried on in the afternoon to snorkel over at starfish central. Wow! Never have seen so many beautiful starfish’s in one place! We spent a good hour or two here until we noticed a storm was rolling in above us. We quickly jumped back in the boat to head back to shore, but unfortunately we got caught in the rain leaving absolutely everything of ours drenched. An uncomfortable drive back to our place to clean up and get ready for dinner.
    Tonight we dined at Bento, a series of food truck/ containers all put together to make one big restaurant with lots of options.    En savoir plus

    Dolphin turned disaster

    Not a good morning record for the books. We started with a 5:30am start to get out and swim with dolphins! Had a guy lined up and promised the ocean would be calm, we asked multiple times if we should reschedule for another day but he gave us the go ahead … he couldn’t find the hotel so ended up picking us up 40 mins later than the time we agreed the day before.. and when we got down to the boat, the ocean was anything but calm and flat.
    Not a boat day at all but we carried on and got out to see the dolphins. Despite the circumstances of our boat rocking and almost flipping over, being soaking wet from the waves coming into the boat.. the sight of the dolphins was spectacular! We saw a few babies jumping up out of the water which words won’t do it justice. Bit of a whirlwind of events, I had amos vomiting over the boat to the left of me, dolphins jumping out of the water to the right of me and in front of me are huge waves that our boat is slamming over. We didn’t think it was safe enough to swim so unfortunately we didn’t get to swim with the dolphins or even get any great quality photos/ videos due to the fact we needed to hold on for our lives.
    Nevertheless, we eventually got back to shore, with Amos’ stomach turned inside out and my head feeling like it was about to faint, we went straight back to the hotel and into bed for a good nap or two.
    In the afternoon, we headed out for a late lunch and ended up just sitting and watching the kite surfers out and about on the water.
    A late walk on the beach for sunset and spent some time trying to crack open a coconut ourselves and then back to bed we went.    En savoir plus

    Paje chill day

    A very quiet and chill day spent bouncing between a few spots in Paje.
    After a good sleep in, we started at the usual brekky spot with a good buffet and people watching, although this was already close to lunch time so it felt more like a late brekky, lunch meal.
    We then walked along the beach and some walkways between our hotel stay and enjoyed the cooler weather with a good yap.
    An early shower and our day ended at another waterside restaurant to play some card games together.    En savoir plus

    Mtende Beach

    Mtende Beach being such a picturesque beach was a must visit for us! We drove our scooter down early morning to see the beach while the tide was high, and wow did it not disappoint. Turquoise clear water against the rocks was stunning to swim in, the water being perfect temp on a sunny hot day! We lounged here for the whole day in and out of the water. In the afternoon, we watched as more people came down to this small and beautiful beach whilst the tide went out leaving behind little ocean pools to look at.
    On our way home, we stopped somewhere for a quick early pizza dinner before heading in for the night after another day in paradise!    En savoir plus

    Stone Town and Prison Island

    Birthday! Amos planned a fun excursion day over to the west part of Zanzibar to explore Stone Town and Prison Island. A fruit bowl was a must to start the day with some energy for all the walking we were going to do, we then began our venture over to Ye Old Fort where we could climb up and look out from the top, as well as wonder all the markets inside and around. On our way to explore St Joseph’s Cathedral, we stopped for a quick photo opp for amos outside the Freddie Mercury museum which was a very busy and buzzing part of town. St Joseph’s Cathedral was a beautiful old church which is still used very week which had some amazing paintings inside.
    Our last stop before heading over to Prison Island was The Slavery exhibition at the Anglican Church, we had a guide that took us inside the beautiful stained glass window church and sat us down to begin telling us all about the slavery that once was in Zanzibar, a lot of it was very interesting and showed explained why the church was where it was and the meaning of its structure.
    Late evening was coming and we quickly got a boat over to Prison island to see the giant tortoises, one being almost 200 years old.
    As the sun set, back in the main land, we had some dinner at the night food markets and ended with a drink at a rooftop restaurant to finish the day.
    An amazing and fun birthday, exploring a foreign country with my best friend.. what more could I want. Thank you Amos ❤️    En savoir plus

    The Rock Restaurant and Tiki Beach

    Quiet and chill day was well deserved after the thousands of steps we had done the previous day!
    In the morning, after a slow wake up, we drove 20 minutes north to see The Rock Restaurant, the tide was in, so seeing the restaurant at this time was the best time to see it.
    We sat on the beach and enjoyed the sun for a bit before heading back down towards Paje again.
    We went into Tiki Beach Resort and spent the day in their pool and enjoyed a late lunch whilst bouncing between the pool, the ocean and sun-baking!
    After sunset, late showers and hopping into bed, we decided to head out for some late night tacos at some local food trucks before calling it a day!    En savoir plus

    Tiki Beach

    Yesterday’s relaxing at Tiki Beach Resort was too good to not do again, we spent the whole day lazing around the pool and the beach, soaking up the enjoyment of nothingness at yet everything around us!
    In the early morning we did a quick walk to get some steps in as well as finishing the night with my usual order of tacos again at Bento, the local food truck area!
    As we came home that night, our airbnb dog was wanting some extra attention and sneaked his way into our room as we were unlocking it, a quick cuddle and out he went leaving us for a good nights sleep!    En savoir plus

    Goodbye Zanzibar

    Waking up this morning was sad knowing it was our last day of paradise here at Zanzibar.
    We slept in and enjoyed the morning sunshine coming in our windows.
    We walked across the street to head into Tiki Beach again and spent the last few hours of our day playing games in the pool together and sun-baking!
    I wouldn’t have wanted our last day any other way!
    We headed over to the airport early evening and flew back over towards the main land of Tanzania. We had a quick sleep there before our 3am flight over to Johannesburg.    En savoir plus

    Arriving in Namibia - Windhoek

    Not must sleep for us this night as our flight from Tanzania to Johannesburg was at 3 in the morning. We then had another flight at 11am from Johannesburg over to Windhoek airport where we finally arrived in Namibia!
    We had a one night stop over here before our official tour begins so we headed to our accomodation and rested up. We had an evening walk to get some early dinner and snacks for the tour and then finished the night off with an early bed time before our Sossusvlei tour tomorrow.    En savoir plus

    Sossusvlei Tour - Day 1/3

    Day 1 of our Sossusvlei Camping trip in Namibia!
    7am pickup and we were taken to the Chameleon Office (our tour company) and had a quick debrief with our tour guide and tour group we were going to be camping with.
    We were very fortunate with our camping group and all got on very well. It was only 5 people in total, Amos and I, Dwayne (30yr old from Phillipines), Kon (35 yr old from Hong Kong) and our tour guide Smithly (27 yr old from Namibia) - us all being similar age brackets made the camping trip that much more fun and enjoyable around the fire of an evening!
    Our morning was spent pretty much just driving to reach the Namib Naukluft National park, with a few stops along the way to get pictures and toilet breaks and snacks.
    We reached our camping ground Sesriem a bit after 2pm and began setting up our tents and camping ground. After a quick lunch and refresh we headed to Elim dune to climb up to watch sunset at the top! This was a great introduction to climbing dunes as it was medium sized. Climbing a sand dune is the definition of one step forward, two slides back … as the sand slides under ur foot each and every step!
    Sunset was beautiful, practically had the place to ourselves as well!
    Hot pot dinner and into bed we got!
    Days like this, there is nothing much more to say other than, God is Good.
    2 degree C night, we went to bed with 5 layers of clothing and still was freezing as the wind blew out tents around over night    En savoir plus

    Sossusvlei Tour - Day 2/3

    Day two of our Sossusvlei tour, today started with a 5.30am wake up in order to get to Dune 45 with enough time to hike up it for sunrise! We jumped into a safari Land Cruiser for the day to zip around places faster on the rocky/ sandy roads.
    Dune 45 was a great hike up, we sat at the top for a few minutes enjoying the view and watching the sunrise before choosing to run straight down the dune instead of hiking back down, this was great fun and provided even more photo opportunities at the bottom!
    We had a breakfast picnic at the bottom of Dune 45, before heading over to hike the Big Daddy Dune!
    Upon arriving at Big Daddy dune, we were immediately worried we wouldn’t make it to the top! This was a huge hike and seeing the tiny specs of people at the top which looked so far away was an insane view!
    Surely enough, after a few hours we eventually got to the top which provided breathtaking 360 degree views! We could also see Deadveli from the top of this dune too! After a well deserved breather and photos, we got to run down the sand dune from the very top! Daddy dune being so big, even running down, we had to take breaks and breathers and stop every so often as this wasn’t a short run down!
    A short walk over to Deadveli which was an absolutely one of a kind place on earth to see! These trees have had all the sand dunes naturally form a circle completely around them cutting off all access to any water, leaving this trees unable to even decompose! They haven’t changed for over 1000 years! Each tree was so fragile and so intricate with its branches being scorched by the sun. No one is allowed to touch the trees incase of any damages people may do or contact of suncream and whatnot that could damage these precious trees!
    We spent a good solid time taking photos here!
    A bit of a journey back to our campsite after Deadveli for lunch and a refresh
    In the afternoon we went to see Sesriem Canyon, amos and I spent the remaining of the afternoon walking all through this and enjoying the golden hour on our walk back to the camp site from here!
    Hot dinner, cold showers, hot fire and cold winds later, we popped into bed for a well deserved rest and sleep!    En savoir plus

    Sossusvlei Tour - Day 3/3

    Third and final day of our Sossusvlei tour, and another pre sunrise start to the day!
    Before sunlight we were packing up our tents and enjoying a breakfast in the cold and dark morning.
    On the road early as today was majority just a driving day to reach our end destination of the tour, Swakopmund by afternoon.
    A long and bumpy ride out of the national park and through the desert, our surroundings for endless kms was flat dirt/ sand for as far and wide as you could see. For a late lunch, we had our last meal together with the tour group in Walvis Bay which was a bittersweet feeling of a great tour with great people coming to an end!
    Soon enough, we were dropped off at our accomodation and the first thing we did was enjoy a hot nice shower and put of some fresh clean clothes! The endless sand in our suitcases was not welcomed but put up with.
    Amos and I ended our day with a sunset walk around Swakopmund town and shared a dinner plate of hot veggies and meat at a local pub!
    Our Sossusvlei tour might have come to an end, but this trip is one for the record of top notch travels!    En savoir plus

    Sandwich Harbour Tour

    10/10 day spent at Sandwich harbour aka where the desert meets the ocean!
    Picked up this morning at 7:30am and began our drive to Sandwich harbour with our new tour guide for the day! Along the way, we spotted some jackals being quite playful which was so beautiful! We also stopped at the pink salt lakes! Namibia manufacture and ship out to multiple countries lots of salt every year! The pink in the salt lakes is a chemical to help crystallise the liquid into salt.
    We drove along the beach side and a lot of the sand was a very bright pink/ red colour. Our tour guide explained to us that the sand is not regular sand particles like a normal beach, it is 8 minerals all mixed together to make a sand consistency! Diamonds, rubies, iron, and a few more! We got a micro photo to see it easily as well! We eventually reached the iconic sandwich dune photo spots and took in our surroundings! These sand dunes are huge and right on the water line of the ocean was an imagine you’d never think to see!
    We celebrated with a few cold meat snacks and champagne! Amos did a little sand boarding down some of the huge dunes and we finished the tour off with some epic 4 wheel driving up and down these huge dunes! The car was literally going on a vertical angle up towards the sky and down to the angle of our feet!
    After getting dropped back of to our accomodation a bit after lunch! We headed over to our evening activity of quad biking through these epic sand dunes! This was so awesome! Going up and down on a quad, definitely and activity that amos wanted to fit in before heading home! We shared some oysters for dinner with a glass of rose (non alcoholic so we could continue driving the quads ;)
    And early night in watching the sun slowly go down, and repacking our suitcases before heading home in the AM.    En savoir plus

    Our travel day home! Catching a taxi to the airport in the morning with our taxi man not knowing the directions to the airport and none of us having data to map it was a stressful start, continuing on with us sitting around the airport for the morning was not as enjoyable as we had hoped with the airport being as big as a house and only having one shop to look at…

    Anyways, flight home and landed in time to enjoy the sunset as we were driving from the airport to our place! Reminiscing on what a wonderful holiday we have had and finding it hard to leave behind    En savoir plus
