Transit Day to Santiago

Plane delays made the day an adventure. But while waiting to get out of Porta Natales we went back into town. The taxi driver, a fan of Brazil and the wonderful women who were so cheap by the hour, recommended a great cafe. But it was the cafe’s 10 anniversary party! We sat next to one local woman and another in town to instruct fire fighters. It was a festive time with speeches and a song and really good Mille Feuille strawberry cake. Amit and I shared advocate (plata) toast and a fabulous hummus and mushroom toast.

After two flights and a quick airport check-in, we were on time for our 8:00 pm reservation at Peumayen, a restaurant focusing on flavorful but elevated “indigenous“ cuisine. The meal and service by Renato were excellent with a fabulous wine pairing.

Tomorrow, a flight to Atacama and dancing with the stars.Read more
