  • The Best For Last

    May 28, 2023 in Faroe Islands ⋅ 🌬 8 °C

This is the actual place why I wanted to visit the Faroe Islands for many, many years: Trælanípa and Sørvágsvatn Lake which looks like overhanging the Atlantic.
A 6 miles walk on an early Sunday morning made it finally happen! So delighted. We had to postpone the hike to the spot several times due to strong winds and I almost thought I leave the islands without seeing it.
It is an outstanding beauty of nature. It'll be forever remembered by me.

  • 2% a week

    May 29, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Do you remember the video where I talked about a newspaper article in which they condemned EVs because a family parked at the airport and after two weeks returning the battery was flat?
I said it was rubbish - and I was right.
My 500e lost 2% of battery a week. Probably for the alarm. We parked with 98% and returned with 94% after 12 days.
So if I'm not silly enough to drive my battery down to 5%, I'm fine. I never drive it to less than 15%, just to be safe. If I park my EV for 3 months or more, I should have an almost full battery. But with a conventional car I wouldn't be able to drive after 3 months of parking - that battery would also be flat...

  • Charging along the A90

    May 29, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

While we're heading up north at the Scottish east coast, we have quite a few choices of semi fast chargers (tethered and 50 kW).
    No problems at all.
This photo is dedicated for Andy who had the special wish to see more charging photos of Mucki 😉😀Read more

  • Time warp

    May 29, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

The new accommodation makes me feel like I was in the UK in the 80s... A real time warp...
The pay phone is the best. I didn't even know that those devices are still existing and working 😳😳😳
Besides that a quaint, old fashion and authentic Scottish cottage with a comfy conservatory and lovely garden.

  • My new favourite: slow charging

    May 30, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

Since I'm in Scotland, I'm a big fan of using slow chargers for my EV.
They are almost everywhere and mainly in very convenient locations, like close to attractions, harbours etc.
They have plenty of advantages. The biggest is certainly the price. I pay here in Crail for a slow 11 kW station only 15p per kW. That means I could fill up my car from 0 to 100% for only 6.30£ !!
In the meantime we are having a picnic at Crail harbour and exploring the town. Something we wanted to do anyway. Instead of losing time by charging as many conventional car drivers are afraid of, we actually save time.
With charging settings on 5, which is the fastest charging, it's not that slow at all.

  • Rooftop Charging

    May 31, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

In the middle of the city centre of Dundee there's a parking garage. They dedicated the whole roof for EVs (and yes, they do have a lift...). With 30p per kW ( charging with 22kW, non tethered) a fair price.
Very convenient location. Less than two walking minutes to all shops.

  • What do photographers do most?

    May 31, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

No, the answer is not drinking champagne and celebrating the shot of the year.
    Correct answer: WAITING!!!
Waiting for the correct light. For hours! And that's what we're doing at the moment at Dunnottar Castle.
The waiting procedure makes us photographers incompatible with normal human beings - nobody has patience with us 😳😳😳

  • Pub charging

    May 31, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

A new activity for Brits could become pub charging. A lot of charging stations are close to pubs, which is particularly nice if you top up your car in the later hours.
After an unsuccessful try to charge the 500e before our sunset shoot (big 👎👎👎👎 for Stonehavn, the only rapid charger for many miles doesn't work), we were forced to get some juice on our way back in Brechin. Which wasn't bad at all after all. Nice pub close by, the Brechin Arms, where we met lovely and chatty locals. Pub charging it is!Read more

  • Rae's

    June 2, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

In the middle of Montrose you get better vegan Italian food than in Italy itself... I mean it...!
Homemade Gnocchi with wild garlic, artichokes, and asparagus.
Just delicious, especially eaten in bright sunshine!Read more
