This morning, we took a second Airstream tour, this one of the factory where they make the touring coaches based on Mercedes vans. Again, no photos allowed. No free samples, either.

We were ready to head south to Dayton when Kathy took a look at the radar forecast. Nope. Full stop. A strong thunderstorm cell with the potential for heavy rain, large hail, and tornadoes was moving toward our destination. Not going there for a while. What to do without going south toward the storm?

Well, north of Jackson Center is the town of Wapakoneta, which was Neil Armstrong's birthplace. Why not check it out while the weather clears? It turned out to be a great choice as we saw his childhood home and visited the Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum. We've visited several museums dedicated to specific astronauts and it was surprising how modest this was, given it is dedicated to the most famous astronaut ever.

When we did get to Dayton, we got hit by a thunderstorm after we got set up. Heavy rain, a little hail, some lightning, but nothing too concerning. Looks like our diversion paid off.Read more
