Lewis & Clark trail

Much of this trip crosses or follows the “Lewis & Clark” trail highway. Much is glorified by “wannabe” towns with doubtful ties to the actual event.

However, any time my route crosses a monument or National marker I try and stop.

This part of the trail is crossed by numerous bridges/rail and car. I can only imagine seeing it from small boats for the first time.Read more

Very nice cabins! Staying in Gray Fox. Cold but fun! Enjoyed the Winterfest Fruitcake fling. James won under 13 and Bruce took 3rd for the older one. Here for three nights to bring in the New Year with great friends.Read more

Getting rummy in big city traffic

Nearing the end of day 4 of driving like bats out of hell so we can spend 2 days in one place over Labor Day weekend. Not exactly tired, but been on the road a while. And we're geezers. Driving through Sioux City ... LOTS of road construction. Rude drivers cutting in. Gordon being VERY helpful (he says I have to say that). Big trucks switching lanes. Cones in the way. "Lots of red lights ahead." "That truck wants over." "Looks like traffic is letting up ahead." "Really? Well, I trust your lazed eyes. They're better than mine." "Not as good as they used to be. Boy, I can't wait til they they have eye and tooth implants. They could implant a baby eye, and it could grow and grow, and when it is ready it would just pop out your old eye." We arrived at the Stoney Creek Inn at 6:30 pm. We experienced sunny skies, cold temperatures, and good road conditions. Unfortunately, I carried John's cold germs with me.....cough, sniffle, sneeze :( But that didn't stop us from going to the Hard Rock Casino across the street for dinner and a little gambling.Read more
