The Kuala Lumpur Dash

Travelling overnight might be the best way to go… but only if you actually get some sleep 😂

We left Tashkent early in the evening for our night flight to Kuala Lumpur, where we had a connection onwards to Singapore.

With just over an hour and a half between flights, we thought: no problem.

That was until we realised our next flight departed from a completely different terminal… which in Kuala Lumpur feels more like a separate airport entirely 😳

Cue a hot, sweaty mad dash through the humid mid-morning heat of Kuala Lumpur.

There was absolutely no way we were going to make it before check-in closed… but we certainly tried.

We arrived about 15 minutes late, tried the self check-in machines… nope 👎

So we ran over to the counters where a couple of very helpful guys were still behind the desk. We explained we’d arrived in the other terminal… while standing there dripping with sweat, completely out of breath and looking rather dishevelled.

Thankfully they took pity on us, checked our booking and even phoned the gate to make sure boarding hadn’t started yet.

Success! 👍

After one final dash to the gate we could finally catch our breath… and soon we were on our way to Singapore.

Arriving at Singapore Changi Airport, we could already feel the heat creeping in.

Thankfully the MRT was waiting below in beautifully airconditioned comfort.

Still pushed for time for our 2pm tea workshop, we headed straight to Chinatown, Singapore.

The moment we emerged from the station we were hit by a wall of tropical heat.

Suddenly our carefully packed rucksacks felt twice as heavy.

Slightly sweaty but still excited, we made our way to Yixing Xuan Teahouse for our tea appreciation workshop.

For the next couple of hours we slowed down completely, learning about different teas while sipping tiny cups alongside delicious dim sum 🥟

One of my favourite parts of the tea process (apart from the tasting) were the little “Tea Friends.”

These small clay figures sit on the tea tray during the process and get “fed” tea as it’s poured. Ours included a turtle and a tomato 🐢🍅

A wonderfully relaxing way to start our time in Singapore.

Eventually it was time to head back out into the heat 😥

After a short MRT ride and a bit more walking we reached our accommodation:

We were directed up to the third floor where we checked in, stored our shoes in lockers (and were given disposable footwear 😳) then shown to our cabins.

Our private room had two double capsules with some storage and a bathroom just outside.

Most importantly… Airconditioning 😂😂

After a quick shower and a short nap… much needed after being awake for far too many hours… we were ready to explore again.

As the sun began to set, the weather app informed us that the temperature had cooled from 32°C to a pleasant 28°C.
