    ... in Ljubljana

    July 27, 2016 in Slovenia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Hello to all of you! And welcome to our blog! :)

In a day our French-Italian adventure begins. This will also be our first home-exchange, well not just first its our first seven home-exchanges we are making on this trip :) and we are very excited to do it! For people unfamiliar with home exchange. We are exchanging homes with like-minded people who want to see Slovenia, so they are coming to our home in Ljubljana and we are going to their homes in France and Italy. We will be writing more about that later on. We wanted to share a map with you so you will have an idea where we will be going and if you have any ideas what to see or experience on our trip please don't be shy and share :).

    Jure and Sanja :)

  • Verona

    July 28, 2016 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

Perfect day one in wonderful Verona. This city has so many amazing things to offer and I'm not just talking about Juliet and her boobs :). The architecture is amazing. Actually Verona has 3 city levels as they just build above of the old foundation instead of using it like we are used to. We just had great italian food by the river and now we are off to bed as a long drive is ahead of us tomorrow.Read more

  • Home exchange, house #1

    July 30, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Aaaand we finally made it to France and our very first home exchange in Annecy! First impression overrulled all the fears and not even our expectations can do it justice. The house is stunning and located very close to the center. No need to mention that Thor loves the garden. First night is behind us and we feel great. Our host even left us some home made jam for the breakfast. Superb.Read more

  • Annecy

    July 30, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

It seems like we found another romantic city 😍 And this is only the beginning! Canals are especially beautiful at night, with all the lights and the swans swimming around (I know, right!). Annecy seems small because the feeling is so cosy, but it's actually pretty big, as we learned today when so many people came to hang out by the lake and in the park (probably because it's the weekend). There are a lot of boats on the lake which is pretty long. Definitely a must see for anybody passing this area. It would be a shame to miss 'Venice of the France'.Read more

  • Gorge Du Fier

    July 31, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

We started off our day trip with a visit of a spectacular gorge. The trail leads you through the canyon and you walk 25m above the river (not for the faint hearted). The scenery is amazing with water pouring on the face shaped rocks. The gorge is overlooked by Château de Montrottier which is straight out of a bedtime story.Read more

  • Semnoz and trip around lake Annecy

    July 31, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

The second part of the day we drove up the Semnoz which is a popular ski resort and summer sport park with some amazing views of the region. The road is pretty steep so no wonder tour de France goes through here. We had a picnic up in the woods which was very relaxing and then descented back to the lake. We drove around the lake (it's quite big so it took as a while) and stop to take a walk here and there while circling back home.Read more

  • Cruseilles, Pont de la Caille

    August 1, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Today we did a large circle north east of Annecy. This was our first stop of the day. Pont de la Caille is a majestic suspension bridge across the canyon. Amazing. You are 150m above the ground if you cross it and you can get pretty dizzy real fast if you look down. Better admire it from a solid ground just like us ☺Read more

  • Albertville

    August 1, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

On our way back from Chamonix we stoped in a little sleepy town called Albertville. I call it sleepy because there's no one around (Annecy and Chamonix are filled with tourists) and (unfortunately) you can't get proper food until 7pm so we drove back home.Read more

  • Beaune

    August 2, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Charming little town, where we stopped for lunch. That's what you call a meal with a view (and a good one!-sorry no pics, we were hungry) 😍🏫🍷

  • Home exchange, house #2

    August 2, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

After a long drive through the fields of gold and wind mills we finally made it to our second house in the suburbs of Paris! A house with a big garden! In Paris! Tres bien 👌🏡🗼 Thor also approves 🐕 We arrived quite late, but it got dark just now though. So, very long days are ahead of us👍

Antoine (our host) greated us with a warm heart, great tips and a bottle of wine 😇🍷We're off to bed now. It actually just started to rain, but we don't mind a few cooler and easygoing days starting with a good night sleep ☔😊.

  • Eiffel tower, Paris

    August 3, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

It doesn't seem as big on the picture as it really is in person. The lines are huge though, so we didn't make it to the top. But the whole presence gives the city this special feeling (I'm trying not to use word romantic again😉), on moments a bit overwhelming, but on the other hand, it leaves you speachless. Just wow. As they say, Paris is always a good idea!🗼 💏❤Read more

  • Notre Dame, Paris

    August 3, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Gothic cathedral Notre Dame on the Ile de la Cite island. Big. Beautiful. And pretty crowded, as they closed the place up front for the people (they're being cautious because all of this attacks lately). So, we didn't wait in line to get in, instead we hopped on a boat and took a ride on the Seine.Read more

  • Reims

    August 4, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

We decided to run away from rainy Paris and check out the wineyard landscape. Reims was our first stop on our champagne route. We were amazed by Cathedrale de Notre Dame in Reims💒 Gorgeous vitrages inside! Thor had to wait outside. No big deal though as he hates churches anyway 😁🐕Read more

  • Épernay, France

    August 4, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Epernay was the last stop. Here we bought some Champagne, refuell the car and as we drove down the champagne avenue we knew this daytrip was a good decision. Back to the City of Lights.

  • Paris, the city of lights

    August 5, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Our hosts took us on a stroll on Montmartre. Such amazing views from the top, where you see all the city lights. While we were eating icecream and walking around, we were really soaking up this parisean vibes (artists painting the portrets, people sitting in cafes,..). One of my favourite places for sure! We had a private tour from the car (thank you Antoine&Natalie), from Moulin Rouge, Opera to Concorde.. I can't believe tomorrow is our last day in Paris. Time goes by so fast when you're having fun! 😊Read more

  • Week #1

    August 5, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

First week (and two home exchanges) of our roadtrip is already behind us! 4 more weeks (and 5 more home exchanges) to go! Wow, so many things and places already behind us. And much more to come! We're so excited every time we see a new place and meet new people. So far, France didn't dissapoint us (and it's even more beautiful as in the pictures). We love the monuments, city vibes and historical buildings, but most of all, we love exploring the nature through the back roads. We're so glad we had a chance to take this trip. Experiences are priceless for sure!Read more
