  • Chaillac, France

    August 15, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

Today we decided to take a 'day off' and just chill by the lake. Our first choice was lake Bellebouche, but they don't allow dogs, so we tried our luck at Chaillac instead. Best of all-it's so close to Liglet! We found ourselves a quiet spot away from the loud crowd, with shade and all. The water was warm but refreshing at the same time(it was our first swimming this summer!). Thumbs up!

And now -time for some wine and sunset 😉

  • Le Blanc

    August 16, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

We had to refuel our car and do the groceries, so we decided to visit Le Blanc. After miles and miles of sunflower fields we arrived. It seems, no matter how small, every town in France owns a castle. As it's getting hotter and hotter, our plan for today is just chill and grill. But first, swimming in the lake - we are in the land of thousand lakes after all ;)Read more

  • Montmorillon

    August 17, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Charming and quiet town, apparently known for books, and where the writers got inspiration. There is an old bridge connecting the two parts of the town center. We crossed it and went up to the church to get the best view of the town. After that a cup of coffee overlooking the old bridge and up to the Notre Dame cathedral. Lovely.Read more

  • Loches, France

    August 18, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Today, our trip was all about the castles as we decided to take a ride through valley of the kings. First stop was old, vibrant town Loches. Small alleys are lively as there are many shops and cafes. Vicinity to the river and small bridges are giving it a lot of charm. We could easily spend here a day or two. And there is this big medival wall and houses inside of it. A whole new life going on inside it. And the grand tower fort, that was also used as a prison in the past, speaks a story of its own.Read more

  • Montrésor

    August 18, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

From one romantic town to another, our next stop was Montresor. There was peace and quiet while we were strolling down the river and looking up to the castle. I mean, what else could you ask for?

  • Amboise

    August 18, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

One of the last castles on our route today. So many of them! And all are really magnificant. We did stop for a short walk to the city center and buy some macaroons 😊

  • Week #3

    August 19, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Time goes by so fast! We are already on half of our roadtrip(still, a lot of places to see though)! Liglet gave us stunning sunsets, field views and relaxed times by the lake. There's no better way to end this week - with sunset followed by a full moon. Nice!Read more

  • La Roque-Gageac, France

    August 19, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Now this is straight from a medival book or for us gaming fans from an epic RPG game. Houses in the rocks like eagles nests looking on a river bellow where small trading ships are docking in the small port. Wicked. 🏰😍Read more

  • Carennac, France

    August 20, 2016 in France ⋅ 🌧 16 °C

We woke up into a cloudy morning. It also got quite cool. A perfect day for driving around :). After we waved goodbye to Lacave we drove to our first stop in Carennac. A very pretty village, a number one for weddings in France (so they say ;) ). We took a stroll and as the village was just waking up so did we, with our first café cream.Read more

  • Rocamadour

    August 20, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

The most important christian site in France (just after Mont St. Michel) and just as spectacular. Monastery is carved into a cliff with a castle overlooking it and the village. Not as much people as on St. Michel here but still very touristy. Very impresive indeed.Read more

  • Le Cele

    August 20, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Part of the day took us by the river Cele. On one side of the road there is a river and the other wall of stone and inside them houses or even a castle here and there. Our plan was to visit a cave with one of the oldest panting in it but sadly you have to buy tickets way in advance.Read more

  • Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, France

    August 20, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

  • Penne, France

    August 20, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Another charming village and our last stop before Albi. There is again a castle (ruins this time) on the edge of the cliff backed by a cozy village with narrow streets and many cats 😻 Lovely.

  • Albi

    August 20, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

We are spending the night in Albi. This is a larger town that is known for a majestic cathedral and a big massive stone bridge over the river Tarn. You can almost smell Spain from here or maybe that is just a restaurant next door. Btw we ate too much. Dont go to France on a diet.Read more

  • Driving to Provance

    August 21, 2016 in France ⋅ 🌬 20 °C

We took a longer drive but avoided the highway to get some spectacular scenic views. A great driving road if you are into that kind of thing this is one of the roads to be on.

  • Home exchange, house #5

    August 21, 2016 in France ⋅ 🌙 20 °C

Wow, what an entrance! This property is realy majestic from the moment you enter the driveway. We were stunned. Old stoned house once belonged to the farm, big and wealthy we presume, as it did include two more houses. The property is fully and beautifully restored and best of all - it has its own pool(deep enough to jump in and long enough for morning swim). I think we'll be just fine (thank you for the wine and all the delicious food, Annemarie and Paul!) ;) I almost forgot, the view from kitchen opens directly on a sunflower field. Dreamy.Read more

  • Uzès

    August 23, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

We took a short break from Mas de Pinet(we don't want to get spoiled) and went for an icecream in the nearest town Uzes. Quite lovely and lively too. Day was quite hot, so after doing the groceries, we rushed back to cool down in our backyard-pool. Nothing beats that in a hot summer days like this.Read more
