Gas attack. French were surprised by a very effective German gas attack. Canadian soldiers blocked the hole left by the French, by peeing on a rag, putting it to their face to neutralize the gas and jumping into the trenches to replace the French.
The Brooding soldier monument won second prize, monument at Vimy was first, when they requested entrees to commemorate those Canadians lost during WWI.Read more
