Start of the new year, and start of a new beginning with my photography. I found myself alone, without husband or kids for the first time in what seems like forever. With a day to myself I decided to have a trip the The Long Mynd, a place I have been wanting to visit for a while now.

Being a cold and windy January day, I made sure to remember my gloves and stood (unfortunately forgot the hat 🙈). Packing up all my camera equipment I set off for the hour long drive.

On arrival, I drove uphill onto the top of the Long Mynd. Weather was cloudy, but it looked pleasant enough. Needless to say, but looking out of the window was misleading. I stepped out of the car into heavy wind 🤣. After donning my gloves and scarf, I went to work setting up the tripod. As soon as I let go it blew over, luckily my camera was not on situ else I would have had a wasted trip. After a couple of attempts of holding the tripod while taking a photo, I decided to give up and go hand-held. A much better approach given the weather. Once I took some lovely landscape photos that included Church Stretton, I proceed to travel around the top and find other areas of interest. Despite the cold and windy weather, there was plenty of hikers about enjoying the fresh air.

On leaving the area, a couple of the Long Mynd wild ponies decided to cross my path. While I waited for them to cross the road, I was able get a couple of shots of them as they walked by. A wondrous sight, and I will definitely be coming back when the weather improves.
