• Nature's light show

    January 7, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

I awoke at 6:00 needing to visit the ladies, and quietly slipped out. Geez, you would say it had rained cats and dogs for how wet the grass was, but the pavement was bone dry. Dew. Dew at 71 degrees with humidity at 100% and a dew point of 71 degrees.

On the way I noticed some irregular flashing lights in the distance against the clouds, but didn't think much of it as we were in an urban area. On the way back, I detoured to get a better look.

On the horizon was a tall bank of clouds, inside of which lightening flashed non-stop. I mean it. Sometimes the clouds lit up in two or three places at the same time.

When I got back to the trailer, I woke Gordon and we BOTH marched back out to enjoy the show. A quick look at the Weatherbug app showed two solid masses of lightening 57 miles off the coast to the east of us.

We did not get a good photo, but I found a couple of examples on the web to give an idea. Awesome.
