Gordon saw a wee little sign pointing to a one-track gravel road, headed straight up a hill just west of town: Scenic Outlook. Why not. We courageously headed up, hoping the car that had preceded us was a local and KNEW that the track was manageable in a car. We put the Hilander in 4-wheel drive for the first time since buying it.

At the top we met two gentlemen outfitted with hiking poles, out for their morning constitutional following their regular coffee date. They gave us lots of tips about where we might go if only we were staying longer. The fellow in the photo reminded me in the process of the correct pronunciation of “creek”: that is, “CRICK.”

They strongly encouraged us to take the-half mile walk out to the end of the table top for some good views. Wow. Glad we could share.
