    Pintado Canyon

    Our drive from Vernal, UT to Grand Junction, CO went through Pintado Canyon. There were about a dozen pulloffs with short walks to see petroglyphs and pictographs. But we gave up after two attempts to see the art. We just could not see the art depicted on the “what you are seeing” signs.

    But I did find some lichen circles. I believe that perhaps Lilliputians made the lichen circles in lieu of crop circles with their spaceships. Since tiny 6 inch crop circles would fail to awe and strike fear into the hearts of man, they decided to make lichen circles which would not be wiped out by a careless footsteps of playing children.
