LEGGETE PERCHÉ È INTERESSANTE.

- Questo quartiere è stato costruito nel 500 dalla famiglia dei Fugger, che divenne la famiglia più ricca d'Europa con la vendita di spezie e schiavi.
- Per poter abitare nella Fuggerei una persona doveva (e deve ancora oggi) essere cattolica e residente di Augusta da almeno 2 anni.
- L'affitto è di 88 cent all'anno, infatti queste sono case popolari per chi non può permettersi un'altra soluzione.
- Chi torna a casa dopo le 22 di sera deve pagare una penale.
- Oggi nella Fuggerei abitano 150 persone.
- Il più famoso abitante della Fuggerei fu Franz Mozart, bisnonno del compositore Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.Read more

Augsburg, Living Advent Calendar

I came here specifically to see this. The angels are standing in the windows of city hall. They all had a very matching cherub look. It was certainly German in feeling. The crowd watching the windows was large, but after the music finished, the groups went back to their gluhwein. Which is a mulled red wine and very cozy.

Now dinner at the Ratskeller which is the bar and restaurant below City Hall. I wouldn’t mind working at a city hall if it had its own bar.Read more

Aminah and I decided to use our InterRail pass to practice our German skills.
Our journey started on Friday morning where we took the train towards Germany. We were quite wasted because of the night before. My friends asked me if I’d like to join a little street food festival on Zug. Aminah and I joined the scenery and we soon realized that this night won’t end anymore.
We had quite some luck on Friday morning when we entered the train in Zurich direction Munich it was barely a seat taken. We used the journey to rest and recover from the night before.

Once we arrived in Augsburg, we checked into our hotel and went sightseeing. The day was quite relaxed but we laughed a lot and enjoyed the time together.Read more

Augsburg was pretty much a rest stop for us. There's not a lot for tourists here. But staying in the namesake of a former favorite beer or mine (Augsburger, or "Augie's") did have a certain appeal. That was made in Monroe, Wisconsin and not here though. Augsburg is about the same size as Madison and is also a university town.

I booked a 4 star hotel using credit card points, so it was effectively free. The weather was rainy and cold, so we mostly chilled out and read up on the next few sites we will visit.

The hotel did have a sauna and we found an amazing pizza place in town that served gluten free pizzas. We were on the 11th floor of the only tall building in town and had a balcony, so it wasn't all bad. And we needed the rest.

Tomorrow, we're off to Baden Baden, one of Europe's premiere spa towns.

Der Start auf eine neue Tour! Fahrt mit dem Zug von Augsburg nach Siegen. Einstieg in den Trail bei Olpe/Westfalen. Mal sehen wie es in Zeiten von Corona möglich ist Deutschland auf dem MTB zu durchqueren. Kontakt mit Leuten aufzunehmen, nette Begegnungen zu haben, Unterkünfte zu finden wenn es fuer das Zelt zu bescheiden ist. Bin gespannt wie es wird mit dem radeln, vui Vorbereitung war nicht., Kondition muss mit der Zeit sich entwickeln. So gesehen waren die 38 km von Siegen nach Olpe ganz o.k., schöne ruhige Wege, der Einstieg durch einen Friedwald, in kurzer Schatz mit einem 80 Jährigen mit einem mindestens 30 Jahre alten MTB. Fit hat er noch ausschaut, helle im Kopf und einen Sohn bei Wirecard der gutes Geld in München verdient, aber eine ungewisse Zukunft hat. Netter Camp Platz in Olpe, die mit Corona Zuschlag mal 21 Euro für die Nacht ausrufen, ohne Essen und Frühstück. Aber mit Netten Nachbarn.... Bis Morgen.Read more
