    Heddal Stave Church, Norway

    July 31, 2021 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

this church is a triple stave church and is norway's largest stave church. it was constructed at the beginning of the 13th century. after the reformation, the church was in a very poor condition, and a restoration took place during 1849–1851. however, because the restorers lacked the necessary knowledge and skills, yet another restoration was necessary in the 1950s.
there is a legend telling about the erection of the church and how it was built in three days - compare that to the cologne cathedral, which took 632 years until it was finished - yeah well i know it is larger BUT it does not have an angry bird (or better insane duck - really check out the pics!).
hmmm ok, maybe i should better skip churches and go hiking, maybe i'm not serious enough for churches...
