Vøringsfossen, Norway

do you know tolkiens book lord of the rings? there is this one passage where frodo, poisoned by a deadly wound, lured the ringwraiths into the river bruinen. gandalf, who had arrived in rivendell, caused the waters to rise and take the form of rushing horses. this flood killed the steeds of the ringwraiths.
today i found this flood with horses, so i assume this must be bruinen! obviously it is called vøringfossen nowadays.
vøringsfossen has a total drop of 182 metres and a major drop of 163 metres. it is perhaps the most famous in the country and a major attractionon the way down from hardangervidda to hardangerfjord.Leia mais
