• Conil de la Frontera

    October 29 in Spain ⋅ 🌧 21 °C

Today is a stormy and rainy day, so I take the opportunity to write something about Conil and show you a few corners.

Conil de la Frontera is a town in the province of Cádiz. The term "de la Frontera" refers to the Granada border.

In 2022, it had a population of 23,497 and it's municipal area occupies 88.61  km² and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

Conil is part of the famous Route of the White Villages of Andalusia, which includes several towns between the Serranías de Ronda, the Sierra de Grazalema and Los Alcornocales in the provinces of Málaga and Cádiz.

It is one of the most picturesque towns on the Costa de la Luz and it's economy is based on seasonal tourism and, to a lesser extent, on agriculture and fishing. In summer, its population reaches over 100,000 people.

It is located at an altitude of 41 meters above sea level and 43 kilometers from the provincial capital, Cádiz.

In summer it must be insanely crowded here, you can see that from the huge parking lots on the promenade. In autumn, many restaurants already close and the amount of people is really manageable.

Slowly, the proportion of Spaniards is increasing and if you turn left on the beach over the bridge of the Rio Salado, there is hardly anything going on.
