Camino Frances 2022

Years of dreaming becomes a plan for a 60-day trip to Spain with the intention of walking for 40 days on the Camino Frances and following on to the ocean to the end of the world, Finisterre, and Muxia. Okumaya devam et
  • Palas de Rei to Boente

    2 Ekim 2022, Ispanya ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F

I think my favorite part of the walk today was coming across the busker playing the bagpipes, letting us know you are close to the end! We are two days from Santiago and in the heart of Galicia. The food, language and amount of pilgrims has changed. It is very different from what we have become accustomed too!Okumaya devam et

  • Boente to O Pedrouza

    3 Ekim 2022, Ispanya ⋅ ⛅ 70 °F

One day left to Santiago. It’s hard to believe. Today we walked with old friends we met weeks ago. We made a new friend from Italy. We saw others we’ve met along the way. The weather was perfect. The day was magical. And we didn’t want it to end, so we got lost but found our way again.Okumaya devam et

  • O Pedrouza to Santiago de Compostela

    4 Ekim 2022, Ispanya ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

We made it. ¡Que Alegría! 37 days on the way. 3 rest days. 34 days of walking. Carried our packs every step! 800 kilometers. So many new friends. Time to walk and talk and meditate following the footsteps of millions of peregrinos with the same intention who have made the journey for over a thousand years. Everyone with their own reason, carrying their burdens, celebrating, looking for answers, some mourning. Time to laugh and cry. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as connected and at the same time disconnected. Cristina keeps telling everyone how magical the Camino is and gives examples. She is right! Ask her about the Camino and she will light up. But in the end… if you think you might want to do it one day. Don’t hesitate. Just do it.Okumaya devam et

  • Rest Day In Santiago

    5 Ekim 2022, Ispanya ⋅ ☁️ 63 °F

Rest day in Santiago begins… churros and chocolate! And then we met our friend, Marco Antonio, who shared a taxi with us from Pamplona to Saint Jean Pied de Port to start. Wonderful before and after fotos for the memories. We start walking to Finnisterre tomorrow.Okumaya devam et

  • Santiago to San Mamede da Pena

    6 Ekim 2022, Ispanya ⋅ ⛅ 70 °F

Today we left for Finisterre. It was a bit bitter-sweet to leave Santiago. We both felt that we could have used another day of rest. But, we decided to have our packs shipped to the next Albergue. We walked with our Mexican friends Chabelo and Carmen and plan to continue on with them to Finisterre and beyond. The comunal meal at San Mamede was excellent for 10 Euros and the entertainment brought down the house. It’s interesting that we finished in Santiago earning our Compostela but our pilgrimage doesn’t yet feel complete. So we continue to walk as planned to the end of the world.Okumaya devam et

  • O Logoso to Finisterre

    8 Ekim 2022, Ispanya ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

Off again in the dark, but we seem to walk slower when with a group. We switch around walking partners but often walk alone for a few kilometers. There’s this kind comfort in just walking and talking and enjoying nature and all things Spanish that I think only comes after many days on the way. Reaching Finisterre in time to hoof it up to the Faro for the sunset proved to be a challenge since we ate a big meal in Cee but still had quite a few kilometers to go. The day turned hotter, but we made it to our lodging but with no time to shower, just walk 3k more up hill to the End of the World. Still doesn’t feel like this is completed. Tomorrow we take a Taxi to Muxia. So tonight our walking is over.Okumaya devam et

  • Muxía

    9 Ekim 2022, Ispanya ⋅ 🌧 61 °F

Our pilgrimage feels complete today. Muxía is not as comercialized as Finisterre and much more peaceful. They both have 0.0 kilometer markers. The seafood was superb. We keep running into people we didn’t think we would see again. Tomorrow we convert into tourists with a lot of experiences to process. We’ll keep posting because we have neat plans, that we will enjoy all the more because of our time on the Camino.Okumaya devam et

  • Porto, Portugal

    10 Ekim 2022, Portekiz ⋅ ⛅ 61 °F

We’ll be spending two nights in Porto before heading back to Madrid. Today we carried our backpacks, in a light drizzle, on a free guided walking tour of the city while we waited for our Airbnb to open up. We ate a late lunch, a typical plate called Francesinha… very good! We keep finding yellow arrows… the Camino Portugués goes through Porto… and we habitually look for them. Actually we feel like we are lost when we don’t see any yellow arrows.Okumaya devam et
