  • Mljet Uvala Podskolj

    August 31, 2023 in Croatia ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

Ston to Uvala Podskolj. A quick trip across from mainland. Just in time to see a super blue moon. A trip onto the island we were tied to was an epic fail with becoming mosquito food and ended up being s dash back through the bushes to GypsyDjango. A beautiful hike to the blue lagoon in the morning to swim and play drone drone.Read more

  • Zuljana Uvala Vicine

    September 1, 2023 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Mljet to Zuljana Uvala Vicine. A different bay for a change. Heading north to get to Korcula tomorrow before the strong NW Maestral winds arrive. After tremendous SE Scirocco winds for the past week and the rain bringing squalls it's time to return to a wind we know. Being moored next to FKK is always a lot of fun 😆✨🔱💛Read more

    September 2, 2023 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Ston Zuljana to Korcula. A different anchorage to shelter from the North West winds. A quick trip to get supplies from Korcula. Old Town is deserted and feels strange. My favourite time of the year in Croatia when the tourists exit (I clearly consider the two of us to not be tourists 😂). The weather is cooler, water is still warm and all we have to avoid is the unpredictable weather as autumn approaches ✨Read more

I guess that was that. Mother nature has the last word. Time to ditch the shore lines and coast into a different bay when non forecast winds of over 38 changed everything. Cost because no engine no sails and a top speed of 6.3 😭. An early morning to dinghy to fetch our shorelinesRead more

    September 9, 2023 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Milna bay to blue lagoon to Trogir marina. Our last visit to Trogir and checkin to the marina for water and food supplies. The countdown clock is ticking sadly as we will depart Croatia soon. An early morning visit to Old Town to avoid the tourists 🤍🌀Read more

  • Italy Torre dell'Orso

    September 12, 2023 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 26 °C

Croatia Split to Italy Torre dell'Orso. 47 Hours later, a substantially faster speed because of lack of the forecasted sailing wind and a need to engine assist. Beautiful sunrises and glorious sunsets with the Comet Nishimura (in sunset photo) ☄️ keeping us close company. A spectacular anchorage chosen because of wind protection and what a welcome surprise.Read more

Torre dell'Orso to Gallico. 48 hours - not disagreeable winds but not totally agreeable either. No sailing only engine assist - getting tired of this. Pausing in the Messina. Waiting till 4 pm to enjoy the 2 knots current in our favour and to set our course for the volcano islands off Lipari with an ETA of 4am and an anchorage suitable in the dark - 5m sand ✨🔱💛Read more

  • Lipari Spiaggia Vale Muria

1.22am. Here safely. I never enjoy night anchorages of new places. I guess we will see how things look in the morning.

  • Sardegna Isola Molara

    September 21, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Lipari to Sardegna Isola Molara . What is that saying? You can blow me over with a feather. We did not expect something on this scale of beauty. This has to be one of our most spectacular anchorages and we immediately know we are going to anchor closer and climb that mountain. What a surprise anchorage. The sail from Sicily to Sardegna is never pleasant and this time sailing through a 3 hour squall at 2am with 38 knot gusts added spice to our crossing ✨🔱💛

  • Tavolara

    September 22, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Isola Molara to Tavolara. A purposeful anchorage. It's been more than once we have tried to anchor here but this place has very little wind protection so only in the right conditions. It's time for that peak. And up we go! What an experience - a crazy insane route with technical climbing and such exceptional views. Passing people wearing heavy climbing gear while you are in your running clothes was a little embarrassing but we still made it up. Maybe a lot more cautiously 🙏

  • Cala Brandinchi

    September 22, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Tavolara to Cala Brandinchi. If there is one thing about Sardegna - it's that the wind mostly blows here. And so the few days we have had are unusual and have now passed. So this mooring is based on shallow and good holding in sand and not necessarily good protection as the land is very low. Thanks to Navily we can find places like this. Time to relax and know we have to wait out the wind. This bay is known as little Tahiti because of its water 🌊

  • Cala Moresca Dolphins

    September 24, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Cala Brandinchi to Cala Moresca. The bay of guaranteed dolphins. And so we saw one as we entered. The water is getting colder and the mornings darker and fresh crisp mornings are sadly here. A change of location for wind shelter from the North and a location with access to land to hike in the morning 🌅

  • Golfo Aranci Cala Moresca to Porto Isana

    September 25, 2023 in Italy ⋅ 🌬 22 °C

Golfo Aranci Cala Moresca to Porto Isana Porto Isana to Cala Salinedda. Sometimes the best chosen shelter doesn't give the wind protection and the wind is slightly different to forecast. A lovely bay but with the stoing Sardegna winds shelter is critical to a pleasant anchorage and especially when the waves are roaring past you while anchored it's time to move. But it dies create the best sailing conditions and when with 28 knott gusts you are the only boat with both a main and head sail up you know you are South African.

Cala Brandinchi to Tavolara. After enjoying Cala Brandinchi aka little Tahiti. Up to 10,000 years ago, during the last glaciation, the island was connected to the mainland and emerged from a wooded and hillside area. Tavolara is the small island off the northeast coast of Sardinia, Italy of limestone massif 5 kilometres by 1 kilometre wide, with its highest point 565 metres above sea level.

Corsica Isola Budelli Lavezzi to Piana. A new visit to the south east corner of Corsica for a quick visit on our way to magnificent Bonifacio. The Navily reports are that anchor is restricted but based on the number of boats, it appears not to be. We will return. Exceptional snorkeling.

  • Bonifacio Anse de la Catena

    October 3, 2023 in France ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Paina to Bonifacio Anse de la Catena. Good to return after not being able to moor here due to strong winds in April. After a call with Tony we were advised to moor in the anse bay which was a challenge with taking lazy lines bolted into the rocks behind us and securing onto GypsyDjango in very strong winds. Fortunately we could send Steve into the water to bring the line to Kevin while I held GypsyDjango against the shore. An opportunity to explore Bonifacio and enjoy a wonderful dinner out ✨🔱💛
