    Wolf Bay

    Yesterday in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Ston Broce to Wolf Bay. Personally named as almost every time we come here the wolves in the nearby hills give us a night time show. A stunning bay. The water still a little chilly to snorkel. A gentle walk in the morning.

  • Lopud

    July 12 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Dubrovnik Port Authority to Lopud. Despite the mishaps, I am finally at peace, I am happy to be here, our 11th time but now we can enjoy sailing back here which is easier than the Ionians when the strong winds require a move without massive distance to the next location. Lopud is amazing for a tiny island. A good run in the morning to explore the old ruins.

  • Dubrovnik Gruz Pier

    July 12 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Corfu – Tzoufaka Beach to Dubrovnik Gruž Pier

Some passages stay with you forever… this will be one of them.

Immense swell gave way to a vicious storm, with 70 km/h winds and driving rain. Every time we thought we'd make landfall, the weather had other plans, adding another three hours to an already gruelling crossing.

When we spotted the Croatian Port Police racing towards us, we genuinely thought help had arrived. Instead, they wanted to board us in the middle of the storm because they believed we'd committed an immigration infraction back in 2024.

They actually instructed us to switch our engines off. Really?

We were under sail, fighting the conditions, soaked, wearing life jackets, and focused on keeping the boat and ourselves safe. Boarding simply wasn't an option.

We agreed to meet them at our planned clearing-in point in Dubrovnik, and they sped away, leaving us to finish battling the sea.

Exhausted, cold, and relieved to finally reach the Q dock, we were escorted straight to the police station. Three hours later, thanks to my obsessive habit of recording every voyage on Garmin, we proved what we'd known all along—we had correctly checked into and out of Croatia in 2024.

Twice we've been wrongly accused. Twice we've walked away cleared. Twice we've lost hours we can never get back.

Not quite the welcome we were hoping for after 206.54 nautical miles, 46 hours and 28 minutes at sea… but at least this story ends safely. 💤

Was good to go past Jade's ship on the way in. From now on we take photos to prove check-in 😭

  • Gouvia bay

    July 9 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Notos Paralia to Lidl Bay to Gouvia bay. A quick shop at Lidl getting as much food from the store to set us up for the sail to Croatia. Then anchor in Gouvia and the best Gyros ever from the restaurant aptly named the best and where the locals eat. Takeaway to sit on the shore and fight off the wildlife 🤪. A good run in the morning 🌅

  • Ithaca Filiatro Bay

    July 4 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Poros Harbour to Ithaca Filiatro Bay. Shew time to head north again and to a bay we haven't been to before. Gypsydjango is solo quiet 🤐. Tied to an underwater rock but the tremendous swell released it. A really good run hike in the morning.

  • Poros Harbour

    July 3 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Skala beach to Poros Harbour. Farewell Krige family and time to clean and get more food. A motor, yes very little sailing on this trip. A visit to Poros Harbour but 34 degrees so a decision to anchor in the bay. Not an easy one with the marked off area for the ferry. Good laundromat to clean bedding and towels. Worth returning to do the hike.

  • Ormos Antisamos

    July 1 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Nsis Meganisi to Ormos Antisamos . A change in location plans as the family are feeling the need for civilization and restaurants. So a difficult but fun anchorage on Cephalonia and date night while the others went hiking saving my legs for a solo run in the morning 💛✨🙏

  • Nsis Meganisi

    June 30 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Bathyabali to Nsis Meganisi. Well it's a lot warmer and I guess thunderstorms are more common. Not a great spot to experience this in a tight small bay. Thank heavens for Cameron assisting with the emergency ditching of shorelines. A 30 minute engine in the middle of the bay until the squall passed through and the rain abated. Then a fun exercise to reattach the lines. Yes the family were scared 😨

  • Preveza town quay

    June 28 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

2 Rock Bay to Preveza . An absolute nightmare. I hate being on a pier. When the public comes out, the ones who normally stare with envy but now stare with fascination at the wild conditions not forecast, it's not that much fun. Especially for the poor boat trying to anchor in 30 knot winds.

The family enjoyed a good dinner in Preveza town while we watched GypsyDjango 🤪. Oh and cleaned 🥳

  • Paxos Lakka

Sinarade Monastery bay to Lakka. Back to kekker Lakka. An early morning while everyone sleeps to get to tricky Lakka to secure a good place with hausers ashore. A hike to the church in the morning. I do miss running but we are finally getting over the COVID they gas been circulating on GypsyDjango.

  • Porto Timino

    June 20 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Avlaki Bay to Porto Timino. The catch in sailing in the Ionians is that either you enjoy the magnificent west coast anchorages one seldom can enjoy or you enjoy the predominant North West wind and have an excellent sailing holiday. This appears to favour the anchorages on the west coast and thus we are off to enjoy one of my favourite spots 🤗

Corfu Gouritsas Bay to AB Bay to Vrachli Beach. Well it's official - the boat has been taken over by the Krige Clan. A quick shop then an anchorage NE Corfu to wait out the strong wind before rounding the cape and heading into our Kassopaia - our final destination for the day.

Ormos Skouliki to Parga Bay to Parga Bay to Prapamali Beach.
Magical - a quick one to do some shopping in Parga and then anchor in a fair weather exposed to everything bay. An amazing scratchy run through private property over fences to the bay next door 😆
