• 🏰Kızkulesi

    August 17, 2014 in Turkey ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

Kız Kulesi stands on a tiny rock just off the coast of Üsküdar at the entrance to the Bosphorus. The origin goes back to antiquity — initially a watch station, later used as a lighthouse and quarantine station. Today the tower houses a museum and café and offers a spectacular 360° view over Istanbul and the sea. Surrounded by legends (e.g., a princess’s curse or lovers’ tale), Kız Kulesi is not only historical but also romantically mystical.
