In the afternoon, we visited Halfeti, the famous "sunken city" on the Euphrates River. Part of the old town was flooded after the construction of the Birecik Dam. This created a unique landscape where historic buildings emerge partially from the water. The partially submerged minaret is one of Halfeti's most famous landmarks. A boat trip on the Euphrates offered spectacular views of the surroundings. The peaceful atmosphere made the place especially captivating. Halfeti combines history, nature, and modern development in a remarkable way. During our visit, we learned more about the region and the impact of the dam project. The scenery provided countless photographic opportunities. It was an unforgettable experience.
