• 🏛️Zeugma Mosaic Museum

    August 31, 2018 in Turkey ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

In the morning, we visited the famous Zeugma Mosaic Museum in Gaziantep. The museum is considered one of the world's most important archaeological museums and houses one of the largest mosaic collections ever discovered. The artworks originate from the ancient city of Zeugma, once located along the Euphrates River. We were especially impressed by the remarkably preserved mosaics and their intricate details. The famous "Gypsy Girl" mosaic is the museum's most iconic exhibit and a symbol of Gaziantep. During our tour, we admired numerous scenes from Greek mythology. The masterpieces demonstrate the extraordinary craftsmanship of ancient artists. Modern exhibition techniques make the displays particularly engaging. The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into life nearly 2,000 years ago. Visiting it was undoubtedly one of the cultural highlights of our entire journey.
