We continued to walk towards the river, which we crossed by walking across the building site that is Bajrang Setu Glass Bridge. Construction is ongoing on this innovative suspension bridge that will feature transparent glass floors, allowing visitors to witness the sacred Ganga flowing directly beneath them. It is replacing the original Lakshman Jhula bridge, that was built by the British in 1929, over fears about its structural safety. I'm sure it will be a major tourist attraction when it is completed. On the other side of the river, we admired the Trayambakeshwar Temple. I was glad that Navin didn't suggest we climb the 13 storeys! There are more restaurants and shops on this bank to cater for the many tourists. Once the commerce ends, there is quite a pleasant path to follow, with nice river views and lots of ashrams. There are also many makeshift shacks where monks who don't belong to any particular ashram live.
