• Peeking into Guadalupe Mountains NP

    After a sad goodbye to Carlsbad, and New Mexico, we beat feet to poke Carter's nose into Guadalupe Mountains National Park. This is a hiking/backpacking park with the honor of protecting the world's most extensive Permian fossil reef. In fact, the mountain behind Sorren's park photo opp is El Capitan, an exposed portion of just such a reef. Basically, you're looking at a mountain of fossils!

    Off to Fort Stockton, our end point for tonight. We haven't finalized the final leg of the trek to Florida yet, so all bets are on for where we'll end up tomorrow.
