• Inaugural Ecuador Nash Hash

    February 14 in Ecuador ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

We are here in Cuenca, Ecuador for this auspicious event hosted by the Cuenca Alpaca H3. About 60 hashers turned up, some prelubed over in Playas and/or Quito over the past week, but we are full on here in Cuenca now. I had the good fun to team up with Circle Jerk to hare three trails yesterday (Long, Medium, and Short), and ran along with the LONG runners today. There was quite a bit of climbing, so everyone earned their beer today. Two hasher (Special Needs and Panty Ho) took the “optional climb” part to the extreme, and ran all the way over the mountain, then had to run back. In another freak turn of events, H2Ho ran through a clearly marked FALSE TRAIL and ended up running 2 kms of marked trail that we were unable to use due to unforeseen circumstances. We had to call out the rescue party, and that took a couple extra hours to bring her back in . . . but at least someone actually got to see that part of trail. 😊

Circle was yet another international affair, with several countries represented. Canada sported the largest turnout, and most of them were from Ottawa. We then came back and got cleaned up, dressed in warm togs, and headed back to the venue for a BBQ dinner and dancing. Weather looks like rain tomorrow, so the planned trip to the mountains may not be especially enchanting . . . but we’ll see. Overall, this has been an amazing Inaugural event here in Ecuador (and it may be the last Nash Hash, since there are currently no other hash clubs in the country). Well done to the organizers.
