• Constanta on the Black Sea

    Sep 14–16 in Romania ⋅ 🌬 68 °F

Constanta is Romania's beach getaway on the Black Sea. It's a former Roman city and the poet Ovid was exiled here.

It wasn't quite beach weather, but we did enjoy walking on the beach for a couple of days. The large archeology museum was closed for repairs but the old art nouveau casino had just opened up after a multi-year refurbishment. It was stunning. Good thing we went when we did because right as we were leaving the electricity for the whole building went out!

It's not really an attractive city either, but we did enjoy walking around and exploring the few sites. We'll spend one more night in Bucharest before we fly home.

In sum, we enjoyed Romania and Moldova. I spent 4 weeks here but that's probably 2 weeks too many!
