We're getting a new bulkhead. Boys are enjoying watching the workers. Friday night, Lisa, Jackie and I took a Sicilian cooking class at The Kitchen Chick. Saturday we went to Palm Beach at Moodu Gardens. On Sunday morning we went to the beach with Jackie, Nikki and Josie. Dean and I drove to the park on the golf cart and watched the sun set. After we showered, Dalty fell asleep as soon as he stopped moving.Read more

Spent the morning at the Galveston Childrens' Museum. Dalton really got into making your own pathway of tubes and tracks for bells to follow. He also made his own little boat, but wasn't a happy camper when he found out you can't take it home.
This afternoon we have to go close on our new lot.

And then there was the exciting dump trucks full of sand delivered to the house. That was great entertainment.

And the next excitement. . .it's so hot fish are dying in the canals. Birds are having a feast.Read more

We spent an hour learning about penguins and visiting with one named Creole who is a 20 year old King Penguin. The penguin makes paintings for you to take home.

Crabbing at Louis

Dalton has been hot to trot to go crabbing. He can't think of anything else. Today we took him back to Louis Bait Camp with string and chicken.
Huge fish kill on one of the canals. Its attracted every bird in the area.Read more

So, we're swimming after our long drive. Dalty wants to know why I want to lose weight. I try explaining it to him. He informs me that he likes me soft like a pillow. It's better to cuddle with me because his parents are all bony. So there are some advantages to being plump!Read more

Visited Ft Davis with the boys. Dalton is determined to climb a mountain. He settled for a gully in the park. Lots of rocks here, so the boys had a rock skipping contest. Then we had ice cream in an old rail road car. We are keeping to ice cream once a day.Read more

So we're staying at the Sproul Ranch outside of Ft Davis. After leaving the main road, you have 2.5 miles of a dirt road you can only go 10 miles an hour on. However, we're the only ones here; we have the whole ranch to ourselves. You can look at the mountains and see McDonakd observatory on the top. We have our own radio telescope on the property.Read more

We got to the park about 12:30, after eating lunch in the only restaurant in town. It was about an hour and 45 minutes walk and that was the short version. It was long enough for the kids. They were absolutely mesmerized in the beginning. Dalton was sure he saw dinosaur footprints and other dinosaur parts. He talked the entire time.Read more

We stayed at the Rodeway Inn Vest Western in Whutes Citu, NM. Nothing special. Room was nice and clean, but they had a great pool for the kids. In the evening we went back to Carlsbad to watch the bats come out. Interesting, but a bit of a let down. When I cam as a kid, I remember the sky being dark with bats. Tonight there were maybe a couple if thousand.Read more

This is the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest in Arizona. The time keeps bouncing around. Arizona is Mountain time, but not daylight saving time. Car is a 1932 Studebaker left by the side of the old Route 66.Read more

Drove through parts of the Grand Canyon. Went to the National Geographic IMAX movie of the Grand Canyon.

Drove to William's, Arizona to catch the train back into the Grand Canyon. It was a fabulous experience for the kids. Started the day off by seeing a big elk right next to our car. They were so excited to ride on the train. There was a wild west shootout at the depot before we got on and the Marshall came on the train to check all the passengers. He asked Dean where he was from and when he said Texas, he made him get up so he could check him for weapons. Then, on the ride back, we had train robbers . There were Indians doing native dances at the Canyon rim. It was a very exciting day.Read more

Arrived in Vegas in the afternoon. Had dinner in the food court. Went to bed early. Boys took a bath and played in the tub for over an hour.

Started the day off with a buffet at Circus Circus . And then we played games for 2 hours. Dean won a jackpot on some game and got 1000 tickets. Dalton was not a happy camper. But, Dean being the great big brother that he is, he shared his tickets with Dalton. Circus act in between. Pool in the afternoon. Another gameroom at Excalibur, where Dean won 500 tickets. . . Again, Dalton not a happy camper.Read more
