Dates in an Oasis

We started seeing palm trees as we approached San Ignacio. Restaurants, taco stands, a super market and gas station along the highway conceiled the fact that the heart of the town was in fact in an oasis 3 km down a date palm-lined road and across a peaceful laguna. A sleepy town square, colourful shops and a beautiful old mission gave the town a much different feel than all the other dusty roadside towns we have ridden through.
