I’m raising the bar — extending my swim from Istanbul to Cadiz all the way to Stockholm, following the Atlantic coastline and later Danmark and sweden for around some extra 8000 kilometers. It's an 11 year project. Read more

Today I got a pain in my left shoulder after about 7600 meters because I was swimming against the wind with waves that had to lift my arms high. after 8770 meters I was so pee-sick so I thought I had to go ashore and pee I don't want to pee in my wetsuit. while I was about to bring the wetsuit I saw a man running along the beach and shouting all sorts of things I didn't understand I just need to pee. but when I had taken off my upper body I decided to take off my entire wetsuit, thinking I might as well camp here when my shoulder hurts. but when I get into the water the man comes up to me he knows a little English and he says this is a military training area you can't be here you have to swim back. I start to put on the wetsuit I don't even have time to get the first leg in before military vehicles arrive, two conscripts start shouting also in Turkish pointing at me to swim back I can't swim forward. I insist I'm going to the Gilliboli 'm not going back. Then he starts to ring the phone and after a while he says Curonel will come. After a while a car comes with an officer and two armed conscripts. He comes up to me, extends his hand and says welcome Jari. I Showed the video from Turkish TV what I'm doing. You can swim further he said, but first we'll take a selfie. So I swam around this entire military area so that today I swam 11 km in total. I had good luck, a guy on the beach had a car and his drow me too Napoli Pizza that's my friend's Pizzeria here in GillibuoliRead more

Saw a submarine againRead more

Today the welcoming committee consisted of 2 wolves. As soon as I leaned up the water they ran away. I don't want to be greeted last night when I peed in a bottle and sprayed the pee at high altitude in bushes and on the rocks. Now it thinks there is a big beast living in the tent.Read more

I had company during the dinner with Maya. Before I got off my tent yesterday the police came and talked with me they wanted to see passport and I explained what I'm doing and I know the rules there is no wild camping in Greece but now since we are of season I don't think that would be any problem and the police said you can camp I just want to be here for your securityRead more
