Saint Jean Pied de Port

The view I woke up to from our room at Beilari.
On our way!

5 km to Orisson

Refuge Orisson

Long walk with lots of crazy wind!!

Could barely sleep last night from the sound of a wind storm. The wind continued all day while we walked across the Pyrenees. Naturally, the wind was either blowing us back or sideways. So we had toЧитать далее
Espinal to Larrasoaña

Nice for walking with cloud cover most of the day, so we weren't in the direct sun. Mostly on lovely forest paths.
Leaving Larrasoaña

Getting close to Pamplona

Pamplona

Festival de San Fermin
Sunflowers and windmills

Alto de Perdón

Rocky Road!

The trail was like a dry river bed with lots of large stones for much of today's walk from Cizur Menor to Puente la Reina
Puente la Reina

Beautiful old bridge in Puente la Reina.
Ciraqui

We walked on centuries old Roman roads.
Bodegas Irache

Two fountains - one with wine, the other water. I walked by here too early for wine last year. After tasting it this year I found that I hadn't missed much.
Villamayor to Los Arcos

We are taking it easy for the last few days that Julie is on the Camino because she's having some pain in her achilles tendon. I don't want to send her home to her husband injured!
So today's walkЧитать далее
Los Arcos

Since we are walking shorter days we have more time to explore the town.
Although the church here is fairly small, it is very ornate. The oldest part of the church was built in the 12th century.Читать далее
Viana, Navarra

It was a hot day - and night in the albergue. Especially since I was on the top (4th) floor, and in the top bunk! Then Julie and I missed the 10:00 curfew by about 15 minutes, so came back from dinnerЧитать далее
Ventosa to Santo Domingo de la Calzada

20+ mile walk through rolling hills and vineyards today brought me to this cute little town of 6500. Lots of restaurants with outdoor seating.
The weather was good for walking. Not too hot with aЧитать далее
Santo Domingo de la Calzada to Belorado

Agés, Spain

Cute little store/bar La Alquimista
Burgos

With a population of 175,000 Burgos is the largest city on the Camino. I had dinner with a diverse group of people from South Africa, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Latvia, and Canada.
Walk from Castrojeriz

Castrojeriz to Población de los Campos.
Nice walk with mor sunflower fields and a man walking the Camino back towards France with a donkey!
I stayed at an amazing albergue. Only 12 beds, each inЧитать далее
A looooong day

I walked about 21 miles today. There was no where to stop for the last 10.75 miles, but fortunately, the weather has been very good. About 80° with a breeze. My feet are very sore!
