Xijiang Thousand Miao Stockaded Village 西江千户苗寨

Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is the largest Miao settlement in China, and the largest in the world as well.

The village is not a single hamlet, but a cluster of over a dozen natural villages connected together. In total, there are more than 1,400 households, home to over 6,000 Miao people.

The village sits on the riverbank slopes at the foot of Leigong Mountain, with the Baishui River flowing right through the middle. The houses are all wooden stilted buildings, stacked layer upon layer from the foot of the mountain all the way up to the summit. When the lights come on at night, the entire village appears quiet and tranquil, with a touch of mystery.

The Miao people living here are descendants of Chiyou, a legendary tribal leader in ancient China. Their ancestors moved many times over the centuries before finally settling down in this place.

寨子建在雷公山下面的河边坡地上，有条白水河从中间穿过去。房子都是木头盖的吊脚楼，从山脚一直盖到山顶，一层一层的。晚上灯亮起来，整个寨子看着很安静，颇有点神秘感。
