This oil change was planned and booked before the trip started, and I had made an appointment with the GM dealership in Whitehorse. According to mileage calculations, by the time we returned from the Arctic Ocean to Whitehorse, the engine oil would be nearing the end of its life. As expected, at around 30 kilometers from Whitehorse, the warning popped up: ‘Change Engine Oil Soon.’ To be certain, I confirmed with the service manager and the technician that it is a diesel engine and requires diesel engine oil. All done, all good – oil changed, and air filter replaced.
