    The Saamis Teepee is the world’s largest teepee, standing at 66 m (215 ft) or approximately 20 stories. It was originally built for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and later moved to Medicine Hat.

    Thanks to directions from the knowledgeable Crystal, we ended up at this rather secretive location just outside Canmore. A perfect view of the Three Sisters and their reflection from the small creek.

    On the way to Radium Hot Springs, we took a short hike on the Marble Canyon trail. It was amazingly beautiful and the posted information was equally educational.

    We stayed at Radium Hot Springs (a small town at South gate of Kooteney National Park) for two nights. After some much needed relaxation, the drive west continues on Aug 7th. From the local hot springs analysts measured very small trace of Radon (a decay product of radium), hence the name Radium Hot Springs.

    Hiked this rather challenging but gorgeous canyon. We missed the trail entrance which blocked by construction, and went too far off the path. Fortunately, we found a steep shortcut leading to the designated trail.

    Wildfire blocks Demspter Hwy 森林野火阻断公路

    Due to forest fires, the Yukon side of Dempster Highway is closed from 194km to 464km. On the Northwest Territories side, the 0 to 74km section is also closed. This will certainly impact our itinerary if the road closures are not lifted within 10 days. We are closely monitoring the situation.

    Crowfoot Glacier 乌鸦脚冰川

    This former glacier is located in Banff National Park, east of the continental divide. Over the decades the glacier has retreated, so it has now become an icefield with the signature crowfoot shape no longer visible.

    The Columbia Icefield is located partially in Banff National Park and partially in Jasper National Park, extending from Alberta into B.C.
    Several major rivers originate from the Columbia Icefield, including the Athabasca River, North Saskatchewan River, and tributaries of the Columbia River. These rivers flow in all directions: north to the Arctic Ocean, east to Hudson Bay, and south or west to the Pacific Ocean.
