    We walked with Hassan, our tour guide, through town to the Temple of Kom Ombo. Built during the Ptolemaic time period (post Alexander the Great) - it was unusual in that it was the only example of "raised relief" carvings, and also had a "Nile River Meter" a measurement well used to determine the tax rate during the year (more water = more taxes, less water = less taxes).Read more
