With an 8 hour layover in DFW, Kristie contacted Taylor Lance and she's going to come pick us up for a visit!🙌🤗 Note: It is April 18 and they are having to de-ice the wings before we take off because it's snowing. ❄️ 🤯Les mer

  • Bryson's Pad

    20. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

Got back to Bryson's apartment around 1:30am Egyptian time, and got a nice sleep and woke up to a lovely Breakfast prepared by Bryson.

  • Abu Simbel - Temple of Rameses II

    22. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

When the Aswan Dam project was being worked on, these two Ancient Temples were identified as being in peril of being lost to the newly created Lake Nasser. These historical sites were taken apart and moved up-river and reassembled. Super impressive engineering project and well worth the visit!Les mer

  • Temple of Kom Ombo

    22. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

We walked with Hassan, our tour guide, through town to the Temple of Kom Ombo. Built during the Ptolemaic time period (post Alexander the Great) - it was unusual in that it was the only example of "raised relief" carvings, and also had a "Nile River Meter" a measurement well used to determine the tax rate during the year (more water = more taxes, less water = less taxes).Les mer

  • Edfu Temple

    23. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

Another temple that was constructed during the Ptolemaic period. Took a horse carriage to the site - thought the poor horse was going to die as we were heading uphill.😬 Amazing grounds and structure.

  • Wedding Crashers - Egyptian style

    23. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

We decided to take a walk with our guide Hassan down the road from where we are docked after dinner, and ran into an Egyptian wedding celebration! 🥳 Before we knew it, we were dancing circles around the bride and groom (literally) and making merry with the rest of the wedding party.😄 What an honor and great experience to help celebrate these two young people as they start their life together!Les mer

  • Temple of Queen Hatshepset

    24. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

It is considered to be a masterpiece of ancient architecture. Its three massive terraces rise above the desert floor and into the cliffs. Her tomb, lies inside the same massif capped by El Qurn, a pyramid for her mortuary complex.Les mer

  • Karnack

    24. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ ☀️ 97 °F

This was a "continual" build over the centuries as many Pharaoh's added their mark to the Temple at Karnak. Amazing pillars and the largest obelisk in Egypt.

  • Temple of Luxor

    24. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ ☀️ 99 °F

This temple was so buried under sand, that a Mosque was built upon it, only to find out the temple's existence, a 1000 years later. There is 3,400-year-old road linking the ancient centres of Karnak and Luxor, also known as Road of the Rams or Avenue of the Sphinxes. It is lined with 600 hundred ram- and human-headed sphinxes (300 on each side) over a 1.7 km walkway.Les mer

  • Chillin' in Luxor

    24. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ 🌙 91 °F

After ending our tour in Luxor, we got to sun ourselves by the pool at Tom and Shereen's hotel on the East Bank of the Nile. Afterward, we had dinner before we said goodbye to Emi and Tiger before they took off for Greece and the island of Hydra. Bryson, Kristie and I took a ferry back across the Nile to our AirBnb on the West Bank of the Nile.Les mer

  • Relaxing in Luxor

    25. april 2023, Egypt ⋅ ⛅ 95 °F

Spent the day relaxing at our AirBnB - Tom & Shereen came across the Nile for dinner, then we crossed back to their hotel to watch the Sun go down and see them off as they head to the airport, and back to Cairo. We head back tomorrow at 5:30am.🙂Les mer
