Our next stop after Great Falls was Cody, Wyoming, which would put us on the doorstep of Yellowstone NP. The drive was a little over 300 miles and was uneventful, with not much to stop at along the way. Our hotel in Cody was the Legacy Inn & Suites, an odd, old-school hotel that had clearly originated as a standard roadside motel. Our room was basic but adequate.

We got into town early enough to go check out "Old Trail Town." This is a recreation of a 19th century old west town, which sounded rather cheesy and touristy, but turned out to be pretty interesting. The buildings were actual period buildings, most of which had been relocated from other sites, and the artifacts were genuine. It was interesting to see how people lived back then in conditions as severe as a Wyoming winter.

Rather than going to another restaurant, we hit up a market and bought food for dinner that we enjoyed in our room. It was a nice change of pace.
