After Lake Tahoe it was just about getting home. We drove 395 along the easter Sierras, which has some pretty spots, but is familiar to us. We stopped in at Erick Schat's Bakkerÿ in Bishop to get lunch. We could not resist buying some additional baked goods to take home with us while we were there.

Overall it was a great trip. Picking up Thomas in NYC worked out beautifully and he and his friend Edison had a blast at Cedar Point. Our trip eastward was a little more compressed than we would have liked, but it worked out. The middle sections of the trip -- Kansas in the US and Manitoba and Saskatchewan in Canada -- turned out to be very pleasant. It's easy to assume that these areas are "boring," but there was plenty to see and do.

Driving always gives you chances to stumble on new things. The giant easel in Kansas, delicious ice cream inside a gun store in Indiana, bicycling around South Bass Island, falling in love with Winnipeg. Lots of great moments and memories on the trip.
