    Urban Camp

    I am liking the campsites down south a lot, this one had cement pads for our tents, a bar and amazing outdoor showers. We set up our tents first then we were free to do what ever we wanted, most people went to the bar for the wifi but the first thing I did was have an outdoor shower!

    This is another stop where we drop off and pick up people, we lose seven people so we decided to go out for dinner as a family to Joe's Restaurant which Hesbon recommended. The food was amazing, everyone ate so much that as soon as we got back everyone went to bed.    Leggi altro

    Etosha National Park

    Etosha National Park is a national park in northwestern Namibia. The park was proclaimed a game reserve on March 22, 1907. It spans an area of 22,270 square kilometres and gets its name from the large Etosha pan which is almost entirely within the park. The Etosha pan (4,760 square kilometres) covers 23% of the area of the total area of the Etosha National Park. The park is home to hundreds of species of mammals, birds and reptiles, including several threatened and endangered species such as the black rhinoceros.

    We were lucky to see three rhinoceros' fairly early on in the first game drive and then lions in the second game drive but other than that it was the common animals such as elephants, gemsbok, zebra, impala etc.    Leggi altro

    Halali Camp

    After our game drive we arrived at Halali Camp at about 4:30pm. We once again set up our tents and got ready for dinner, it has become such a routine that setting up the tent takes minimal effort and I could probably do it with my eyes closed.

    This camp was really nicely equipped with tables, chairs and a kitchen so we didn't have to pull all the stuff out of the truck. Once we had dinner we walked down to the water hole and watched the rhino as the sun went down.    Leggi altro

    Taleni Village

    We arrived here at about 3pm after our game drive in Etosha National Park, it is another well equipped campsite with chairs, table, kitchen, cement pads for tents and good showers. The best thing is we are spending two nights here, which means no packing up the tent for two days!

    It was my turn to be 'cooks help' and I volunteered to peel potatoes, I peeled probably 10kg of potatoes and I am not going to lie - I whinged a lot. At dinner time Duncan served us up fillet steak and 'Duncan's Pie' which was amazing! It had potato, carrot, leek, cabbage plus more. After dinner I volunteered to peel potatoes everyday for that pie.

    The second day here there was an optional game drive in the Etosha National Park but I decided to stay back at the camp - after all the game drives we have done I just needed a rest from the truck. While the other guys were on the game drive I managed a sleep in as well as some sun baking by the pool and that was the extent of my day.    Leggi altro

    Ground Rush Adventures

    I skydived again, this was my fourth time skydiving! I have skydived in Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland before this but still couldn't help myself, a last minute decision ended in me jumping out of a plane again.

    Even though I have done it before this time was still different, the scenery was different to the other three times and the company was different. I was going up with Archana who hadn't skydived before so her excitement rubbed of on me as well.

    Once I sat on the edge of the plane looking down I got that adrenalin rush I got every other time, as we left the plan we rolled a few times before steadying - it was incredible! I just can't get enough of that feeling you get when you're free falling at 10,000ft high in the sky.    Leggi altro
