Goðafoss

After leaving Akureyri we drove 30 minutes east to get to Goðafoss waterfall, called in English the ‘Water of the Gods’. According to the Icelandic Saga’s in 1000AD it was here that the chief of the area threw is pagan gods into the waterfall and said that the whole of Iceland would be Christian.

The waterfall and surrounding fields is covered with lava which set over 8,000 years ago.Leggi altro
