Jökulsárlón Lagoon | Black Diamond Beach

First stop of the day is Jökulsárlón Lagoon, this new lagoon (only 80 years old) was really impressive as you can get really close to it. Opposite the lagoon is the black diamond beach, it gets its name from the ice that breaks from the glacier in the lagoon and makes its way under the bridge and into the Atlantic with some of it landing on the beach. Once there is scatters the beach looking like diamonds and broken glass.

While there we saw plenty of wildlife including seals, birds and Americans, one of which said “these icebergs (more like cubes) are like the ones that hit the titanic.Lue lisää
