  • St. Stephen's Cathedral

    First stop on the trip is St. Stephen's Cathedral, dating back to 1137, the cathedral is 137-meter tall, and is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienna.

  • St Peterskirche

    Next stop is the beautiful St Peterskirche just behind Stephensplatz. This was a hidden gem found completely by accident, but well worth the visit.

  • Café Central

    Café central first opened in 1876 and became famous in the Vienna intellectual scene. Regular visitors included Adolf Hitler, Leon Trotsky, Stalin, Sigmund Freud, Lenin and now Josh and Greg.

  • Schönbrunn Palace

    Final stop was Schönbrunn Palace, work started in 1569, but passed to the monarch in mid 1700 as a gift to the then Empress of Austria Maria Theresa, then the palace had most of the major expansion was during the reign of Franz Joseph, the longest Austrian monarch.Read more

  • Timbersports World Trophy, 2022

    Well where do I start, during the day we passed the Vienna city hall and saw that there was a bit of a vibe going on centred around wood. Well after a good we found that there was a timbersports show on at 18hr that evening.

    We travelled back got free entry and got bang central seats for what was actually the timbersports final for 2022 😂. The final had it all, warming saws, lads on timber, illegal moves, disqualifications, flags, oh and a streaker!

  • Riga Walking Tour & Old Town

    Starting the day with a walking tour of the old town of Riga, the guide pointed out so many things that we would have otherwise missed, including the German history of the town- their questionable mash of German, Swedish, Latvian and Russian architecture. And of course the beer culture.Read more

    Next stop is the Art Nouveau, as natural Riga has the highest concentration of such designed buildings in the world. And the embassy quarter, unsurprisingly citizens have taken aim at Putin through the use of huge posters overlooking the Russian embassy.Read more

  • KGB Offices

    KGB Offices, these building originally an apartment block became home to the KGB during the Soviet times in Latvia. The tour took from the entrance through to the secret doorway into the inner workings of the KGB. For many the doorway into the office was a one way door as many did not leave. First stop was the registration room, then one of the many interrogation rooms (complete with on way mirror for people to watch), then it was to the underground cells, exercise room, kitchens, offices and finally the execution room, were over 180 people were killed. Though there are papers to support the amount killed here, much of this was estimated via the number of bullets pulled out of the wall- this is shown by the coloured stickers.Read more

    Morning walk around Tallinn old town… before the rain hit, and it flooded everywhere. We took sanctuary in the Le Coq. Little did we know we would be back in here many times.

  • KGB Tour continues

    Well the rain had continued all day so we took decided to visit the KGB prison in Tallinn. Once again the government decided to transform this into a modern police prison after the soviets had left. Not exactly filling confidence in the population.

    But it was interesting to learn about all the reasons people were arrested and kept in the prison, or sent to Siberia and other prisons in Russia.

  • Morning walk and breakfast

    Walk round the part of the old town we didn’t get to see yesterday due to the rain and then time for a quick brunch and then to the airport for the flight home.
